{KKS} Time for Fun!

It's Wonderful Wednesday time!! We hope you can play along!! As always....it's ANYTHING GOES!! Break out your Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and get krafty!!

OMGosh! I am having such fun lately digging through my older KKS stamps and having a lil reunion of sorts! My hubby went away for a work conference in Texas, so I made the goal of cleaning and starting to organize my stamping studio. I love nosing around at my collection when I'm doing a tidy!
The cleaning part is almost complete, and I have started organizing, but that will take awhile. I know I need to purge a bunch of stamps and dies, but I just can't bring myself to do it!! LOL!!! I might NEED that one die someday, ya know?? then I'll be kicking myself in the hiney that I let it get away!! I the words of my favourite Disney movie, Ratatouille, 'We don't leave the nest, we make it bigger'….. well my nest is getting awfully full!

Anyway, onto the card!! I had so much fun colouring this lil guy from Carnival Fun, only using a portion of it. I knew I wanted to use a certain sketch…You can find that HERE…..so I didn't colour the whole image, as whatever was outside the circle wouldn't make it on the card. Don't waste your time colouring what you are planning on cutting off, right? I had chosen my DP and coloured the balloons in the same style as the ombre looking DP….I wanted the really transparent looking balloons, where the ones behind are still visible. I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out :) I added in a button tied with a hemp bow and that's it for accents! The circle dies are MFT, and the clouds are TCP. I did some light sponging with TH Frayed Burlap distress ink. A touch of machine stitching around the edge adds some interest to the clean layout.

Are you joining us on Saturday for Kimmie's Birthday & 2000 friends celebration BASH?? It's an all day party with challenges, prizes, chatter & hanging with your Krafty friends!!! Head on over to the Krafty Friends FB Page for all of the deets!

We want EVERYONE to be able to play along so your submission can use ANY stamp and can be any theme, any style, any design and it can be a card, a scrapbook page, an altered item....you name it!! It must be a NEW creation and you can enter on this post until February 3rd at midnight! At the end of the month one random winner will be chosen from all the submissions for the whole month and will receive a $20 Gift Card to the shop!!! What do you think.....wanna WIN?? Let's see your krafty stuff!!

{SPD} Distressed Love Note

Are you ready for a new SugarSketch Challenge?!?!  We had a fantastic response to our last SugarSketch Challenge.  It was wonderful to have so many participants.   Feel free to make it your own by rotating or by changing the shapes of the panels.  And remember, that each project you link up and share below is an entry to WIN a Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs store worth up to $15!

I've noticed a lot of stampers using Distress Ink to create gorgeous backgrounds lately, so I tried my hand at that. I don't have many 'colours'…mostly just neutral browns to distress with….so my colour scheme was very limited LOL! I sponged a background, then cut out the circle (I used the extra inked portions once i cut out my circle focal panel to cut all of the little hearts (Heart Journal Card Set) that you see floating out of the envelope die- Special Delivery Accents). I spattered the circle with water off a paintbrush to get the look. I need to work on this. haha! I added a bunch of enamel dots (mostly YNS), lacquered up the 'love' die cut (Heart Journal Card Set) with glossy accents and stamped 'note' from the set Special Delivery. I used the envelope stamps from Special Delivery to create the pattern on the vertical panel. I saw one of my teammates do something similar and was inspired by that. The horizontal panel was subbed with one of the border stamps from Build A Background- Basics (Remember that BAB-Basics is FREE with a qualifying purchase!!!You can get your hands on it a whole 2 months before its even released!)

The rules are very simple…
Create a new card or project using the SugarSketch provided.

  • SugarPea Design stamps are NOT required to play along or to win but would be appreciated :)
  • You may rotate/flip the sketch & replace shapes – so long as the original sketch layout is recognizable
  • Upload to your blog or other Online Gallery using Keyword: SPDSS19 so that we may check out your beautiful work
  • Add your name and link to your project in the InLinkz shown HERE.
  • One randomly selected winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs Online Shoppe.  However, if the winning entry features a SugarPea Designs stamp we will increase the prize to $15
Here is your sketch!

Here are the products that I've used on my card today:

{SSSC} You're Sweet

Hi there! Tonight I have a card to show you that I made for my niece Elliot's 6th Birthday! I used the image Cotton Candy from Mo's Digital Pencil. Elli has been wanting a cotton candy themed bday for awhile, but she changed her mind and went with a Pajama and Pancake brunch themed party! It was very fun and my SIL did an amazing job with the cake and cupcakes, and of course all the actual brunch food! Mandi iced the cake to look like a stack of pancakes! It was amazing! And you can kind of see the 'bacon and eggs' cupcakes in the background….

The cotton candy party was no more, but I had planned to use this image for her, and I even got her a cotton candy machine and a bunch of candy you can use to make cotton candy! FUN!

I added a hint of glitter to the gigantic heap of cotton candy! The sentiment is from SugarPea Designs Classroom Cupids. Dies are by MFT, as well as button and twine.

I used this weeks SSSC! Check out what the Sweet Sunday Stampers have been up to:

{SPD} SugarPea Designs is turning ONE!

Hey there! I am soooo super excited to be sharing today's post with you! It's SugarPea Designs FIRST Birthday Bash! I am so very proud of my friend Wendy's hard work. effort and love that she's put into SugarPea Designs first year :) I am very honoured to have been with her from the start, and hope to spend many more SPD Birthdays with her!!

I made this fun little card to give to my mailman, Timothy, because he is just really great at his job and in a rural area like this, that's sometimes hard to find! I forgot to put a Christmas card in the mailbox for him, so I made him this masculine Thank-you card instead. I am tucking a Tim Hortons GC in there as well. I absolutely ADORE this little penguin from the set Happy Mail, and as Canadian Customs was thoroughly enjoying my stamp package, I didn't receive this guy in time for our release peek! So this is my first time inking him up! I coloured with copics, adding pastel cheeks in. I pieced the hat and mail bag. I used the little elements from the Air Mail Set die, as well as the envelope from Special Delivery Accents. I rolled up a little piece of DP and tucked it into the open slot in the envelope die. I used this weeks SSSC for my layout!

Here is the inside, with the other portion of the Air Mail Set die and another sentiment from Happy Mail.

Here is some important info on today's hop:

Happy Birthday Dude!!

EEK!! I am super excited to show you this card!! It's my first Pop Up Box Card and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it came out! I made it for my nephew's 6th Birthday. He is obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…which is kind of cool, because I remember my brother to be their #1 fan when he was a little boy! The TMNT love has come full circle ;)

This card honestly took me forever to make LOL! Mostly because it was a ton of die cutting! Very little punches were used and just the one stamp on the back of the box, which you'll see later on in the post. I'll also list all of the dies that I used at the end.

I knew I wanted to make Lucas a TMNT card, as we got him some turtle gear and toys and his party was also TMNT themed! So I searched on Splitcoast Stampers and found THIS card, which was my inspiration. So thanks, Rochelle, at Creative Corner Studio! I wish I could say that I came up with this idea on my own, but I'm just not that good ;)
I also followed the SCS tutorial on how to make a Pop Up Box Card. You can find that tutorial HERE. I used the A2 Horizontal size.
The 'Pizza' was so fun to make!! I really dug into my stash of die-namics to find the right shapes for my toppings (plain pepperoni, cheese and sauce is what the kids go for!)…thankfully I have a good haul of dies from my days as a designer for My Favorite Things. Every die cut shape you see on the card is from MFT, with the exception of the turtles eyes and their smiley mouths! That is it! Those things were made using small circle punches for the eyes and a large oval punch, all Stampin' Up!

Seriously, how CUTE is this pie???? Yum!

I wanted a little birthday greeting stamp or something to add and this pizza stamp from Pizza My Heart by SugarPea Designs was PERFECT! I wrote in a message on the top and bottom of the circle. You can see here the back of the box once its standing up. I used a reptile embossing folder to add some interest to the CS (and YES, I know turtles are amphibians hehe). Every side panel and the underside of the flaps are a different turtle colour. I backed each of the turtle heads with more CS so you can't see the mask tails glued to the back.

Each of the turtles is a different colour of green! Just like the real turtles!

Here is the card laying flat. If you wanted it to fit in an A2 envie, just don't make things hang off the edges so much LOL! The manhole cover is way off the top, as well as the blue mask.
I just used a larger envelope.

And here's the flaps folded up.
