{KKS} Just chopping by.....

This week our hostess is KAREN! And her challenge is WARM AND COZY! So create a card, scrapbook page or altered item with a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp that feels warm and cozy! You choose and have FUN! Join us this week because we'd LOVE to see your KKS designs. We hope you can play along for your chance to WIN some Kraftin' Kimmie rubbah!!!
What's more cozy then sitting next to a roaring fire? I've used the cutest little woodcutter, Lucas, from the set You're So Cool. I used some MFT dies (snowdrifts, snowflakes and circles), enamel dots, glossy accents and rock candy glitter. I've used this week's MFT sketch challenge for my card design.

Check out what the other Krafty Girls have been up to at the KKS blog!

{MFT} Ahoy!

Yesterday was World Cardmaking Day and I wanted to sit down and whip up a quick card, because, well, it was a good excuse! If you can't justify setting aside some crafty time on WCD, then when can you? lol

I recently got an order from My Favorite Things, and I was kind of itching to use this little PI Pirate Boy (I love anything for lil boys!), and PI's are so darned quick and easy to colour up. It seemed like a good match ;)

For an even quicker card, paper-piecing can be a great option! I always add a wee bit of shading (usually with W1 and 3 markers) so it has some dimension still. A real pirate would probably be forced to walk the plank with this outfit, but I think a little boy pirate can get away with it just fine! I showed my lil scallywag this card and he said 'nice, but he's holding the sword the wrong way'....geesh, there is just no pleasing some people! haha! I used Western Backgrounds to stamp on the Chalkboard Frame Border diecuts in Kraft ink. I hand tore the border and added a Steel Blue button tied with Hemp cord. I added a few brads, as it wasn't feeling quite done.

I used this weeks WSC #144 for this layout.

{MFT} Carter's 1st Birthday!

Today is my littlest nephew, Carter Coleman's birthday! He turned the big number ONE!! He is such a stinkin' cutie! Loved his cake- passed out cold in a food coma in his highchair! lol

I wanted to play along with this week's MFT sketch challenge, but I ended up straying from it quite a bit, lol! First of all, I turned the sketch on it's side, and then ended up changing the elements around to work for me. I used Airplane Greetings stamp set and matching die-namics. Other dies that I used: By the Numbers, jumbo cloud STAX,  and scattered stars. On this inside, I used By the Letters to spell out his name. I also used black licorice ink and hemp cord. The button is by PTI and CS is SU.

Here is the sketch, so that you can see just how much I veered from it ;) haha

{MFT} Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my sweet mama's Birthday! I think maybe she is turning 55 but I can't be sure. Just remembering that it was today was a challenge enough for me! Last night I got to thinking it was coming up and looked at the calendar and almost freaked when I saw it was today! Thankfully I'm a pre-buyer and have had her present for months!! She has wanted one of those chef's gel mats for in front of her kitchen sink! I know- she's crazy and wild!! :) I also got her some new golf socks....socks and a floor mat. Yes folks, it's heart-stopping action over here!

I made this card for her using MFT's a la mode You're my Cup of Tea.

I added a little teacup and teabag charm hanging off of the flower/button/hemp embellie. The dies (as well as the inside teapot) are from the die set Always Time for Tea. I used MFT's Hemp twine and a Spearmint button. This whole card is distressed using Kraft ink. I also used Kraft, Spearmint, sweet tooth and X-press it Blending CS. The flower die is the Layered Rose. The sentiment flag strip is from Blueprints 2.

Here's the inside. I used another sentiment from the set alm Hot Cocoa Cutie.

Here's Gramma and her boys! I made her an iced cappuccino and added a candle to the whip :) No Birthday cake, but the Birthday Cap was delish!

I think she likes the card.... HaPpY bIrThDaY MoM!

I used last week's MFT sketch:

{MFTWSC127} Reel Friend

Time for another weekly sketch challenge from My Favorite Things! I LOVE it when the WSC falls in release week- you get an extra peek at all of the Stampy Goodness that will be available SOON!!

I used the soon-to-be-released set Gone Fishin'. LOVE this set- so stinkin' cute!!

I stamped my lil fisherwoman in memento ink onto X-press It Blending card. My go-to for copics! I paper-pieced her shirt and did something really fun with the fishing line. I used a fine glue pen and traced over the stamped line and firmly pressed hemp cord over the glue lines! I left the hemp attached to the roll and cut it off where I wanted to when the glueing down was all over. The hemp had a nice curve in it from being on the roll and it seemed to naturally want to curl up towards the flower embellie (Pretty Posies topped with a Sour Apple Button and hemp bow), so that's where I left it! Like she hooked the flower! Cute huh?
This stamp actually comes with a waterline, but I wanted to give the water a wavy appearance, so I used the Snow Drifts die to make some gentle swells in the water. I stamped the sentiment onto a Fishtail Flags Layers die in Black Licorice ink.

And here we have the inside, with the other sentiment that comes in this set, as well as the cute fish!

I hope you'll be able to join us this week for a chance to win up to $20 in MFT vouchers! PERFECT for our upcoming release!! Check out the MFT BLOG for more details, as well as the sketch itself and links to the other designers participating today! Thanks for dropping me a line! LOL! (Okay, the goofy little puns end here ;) )

{MFTWSC126} Birthday Girl

Hey there! Time for another Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge from My Favorite Things! A friend's daughter is celebrating her 2nd Birthday soon and this kid is the cutest thing! She has always reminded me of the Pure Innocence girls from MFT! I decided to use this week's sketch to make her a card for her special day!

I used PI: Birthday Girl (which I just got in my last MFT order- I've been wanting her since she was released!!). I coloured her with Copics, and pieced her dress and the balloon. She was stamped on X-press It Blending Card. I also used the Instaframe Die-namic, Fishtail Flags, and Looped Border on the inside.
MFT CS used: Gumdrop Green, Razzle berry, and Blu Raspberry. I added a bow with Berrylicious ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment onto a Fishtail Flag (that I cut on both ends) in Black Licorice ink. I used the Typewriter Alphabet to create the text.

Here's the inside, using two more sentiments from the set, and the Looped Border. I used Smooth White CS on the inner panel.

Here are the links to the MFT supplies that I've used today.

Why don't you play along with us this week?! there is up to $20 in prize money up for grabs each week with MFT wednesday stamp club! Enter the keyword MFTWSC126 when uploading your card to an online gallery. You can find more deets on the blog HERE or on our SCS thread! Check it out!
