{KKS135} White on White

Do you believe in fairies?? I wish I had a laundry fairie!!! Sometimes my boys and I set up little things outside for the 'fairies'....little pinecones and rocks stacked up, stick teepees...that sort of thing;) They think it's fun!

I love this stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie! She is from our most recent release.....one of the Peter Pan characters. I love how Tinkerbell is looking back and has such a defiant look on her face;) She is a handfull, I think!

This week's Krafty Challenge is brought to you by Alice, and she has challenged us to make a white on white card, which is challenging for me!! I am a colour freak, so using mostly white?? Ack! But I actually had lots of fun making this and I love the way it came out! I did lots of embossing (to cut down on the boredom of so much white! lol) and added a teensy bit of green and lots of crystals (SU). Her wings have many coats of spica glitter in clear, and green a few places too;) Her bells were coated in glaze pen. The flowers were made from a Verve die and the sentiment banner is from a MFT die.

Check out the Krafty blog for more inspiration and all the info to play along with us in this weeks challenge:) You'll have the chance at winning Tinkerbell!

To all my fellow Canadians, Happy Canada Day weekend!!!

{MFT GDT} Super Brody!

This is my entry for the MFT Guest Designer contest this month, which is another sketh- my fave:)...it's also my funny, sweet little nephew Brody's 6th birthday this weekend!

I used Superboy PI, along with alot of MFT dienamics: Banner Day, and By The Letter (uppercase) on the cardfront, as well as Fishtail Flags Stax for the sentiment:)

I found some cool old comics when we were on vacation last year and for a buck a piece, I bought some for crafting!!! i didn't really realize that there are some blood drops from the bad guy here, so my son made me feel quite awful about that, but too late! Hopefully I don't traumatize my nephew too much!!!

I spelled out his name with the Banner Mini alpahabet, and used the By The Number die to cut the '6' and drew in the Superman logo on the other banner diecuts. I LOVE personalizing cards for people:)

That's it for me- off to celebrate the Canada Day weekend!! Have an awesome one:)

{iSSC22} So Tweet

Todays card features a cute stamp by Your Next Stamp, called You're So Tweet. I love using glossy accents, or crystal effects (SU) to create that super shiny look for water, or shiny metal surfaces, like this aluminium watering can! Just remember to make that your VERY last step, as it takes forever to dry if you use a heavy coating;) It can also warp your area quite a bit, so make sure that you have enough pop dots, or whatever you use, to keep the cut out image flatter if thats what you like. I also added CE to eyes on the birdie and a more subtle glaze (with a sakura glaze pen) to the tiny beak and feet. The bird's body is also stamped twine and popped up with a dimensional. I added baby brads to the nails on the can handle.

YNS's designers have some more card making tips to share, so check out our blog HERE for that.

I've also used this week's sketch layout from iSpy Sketch Challenges for my card. This week, the Secret Agents were inspired by THIS card from Julie Mogford (jules bmp @ SCS). Here is Kim's sketch version of Julie's card:

Check out my Secret Agent sisters to see what gorgeous cards they came up with at the iSpy blog. You can also link up your creations there. We'd love to have you join us this week!

{YNS/RC} Blog Hop!

I am so excited for today's blog hop merger of two awesome companies, both of which I am lucky to design for: Your Next Stamp and The Ribbon Carousel!!! How fun is that!?!
And to add to the fun, Karen (she is super-awesome, I can vouch for that!), owner of Your Next Stamp is generously offering a coupon code to all blog hop participants for 15% off any online order placed from today through June 30th!

Be sure to take advantage of that deal!

I've used YNS's Kai from Hawaii (one of our cute World Kids Collection) on today's card, as well as two great products from the RC: Divine Twine in Orange and Jute Twine in Natural.

Some dies that I used are The Cat's Pajamas Wave Cutup & MFT's Hibiscus and Sunshine Dienamics. I found a neat button in my stash (I think MME) and what do you know, the backside looks like the coconut necklace that Kai is wearing! I love it when things just fall into place!

His little surfboard is paper-pieced and popped up using dimensionals. He is fussy cut and popped up as well! I thought there was too much orange happening with the sun, so I used the divine twine to make some wraps around the centre and I think it adds so much more:) I coloured Kai with copics and added clear and buttermilk spica glitter to his hair (very conservatively- I just wanted that summer blonde hair that just glimmers like the sand)...his necklace and trunks are coated with glaze pen, as are his eyes and the star and edging of the board. I coloured his skin a little darker than my usual combo (this time using E00, E11 and E13, rather than my usual caucasian E000, E00, E11)..I wanted him to look like a total surfer beach bum, all tan!

I used this month's SFYTT by Jen del Muro....this is such a keeper as far as sketches go:) And you still have time to get your card in for that;)
OK, let talk PRIZES!
Hop along and leave some blog love for our designers for a chance to win!

The Ribbon Carousel is giving away a ribbon carousel!

Your Next Stamp is giving away a $10 YNS online Gift Card to spend on stamps of choice!

{TCPTUES216} Flutterby

Time for another TCP Tuesday! This week our hostess is  Jen d. and she has given us a gorgeous inspiration picture to get the creative juices flowing:)

I was inspired by all the lovely embossing on the jugs and little floral details on the lanterns and of course the serene colours: whites with touches of browns and greens:) So relaxing! Makes me want to redecorate my bedroom!
And what? No stamping? Yep! Just some fabby TCP Cutup dies: Lacey Floral Doily and Mini Exotic Butterflies....

I used this satin striped ribbon in Sage from the Ribbon Carousel.

Check out Jen's Blog for all the detials:)

{RCC58} Spin My Spurs

It's time for another Ribbon Carousel Challenge and the hostest with the mostest for this week's challenge is our sweet Savannah O'Gwynn.

Sav is challenging us to to use some metal hardware on our projects this week. Any sort of metal brad, clip, or other embellishment will do the trick!

Check out what my Crewmates have created for this week's challenge HERE on the RC blog.

I combined Sav's challenge with a sketch from My Favorite Things (MFTWSC76). You can see that sketch HERE and I think I am just under the wire for this week:)

I used one of my absolute go-to Ribbon Carousel products: JUTE TWINE! I LOVE this stuff!! Here, I've used brown and natural.

A closeup of the little metal star spurs:) And I really am not skilled with colouring fur, but with a little help from my friend Michele (she gave some tips on this post), I think I did an okay job this time! And it was really fun and easy:) And he looks like he has such a nice coat of curly bear-hair!

The MFT products I used: Fred Bear Out West, Fishtail Banner dienamic (for the sentiment anchor), and Fishtail Flags STAX dienamics (sentiment flag).

Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! *** Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***
We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC58) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.

{KKS New Release} Blog Hop

Welcome to Kraftin' Kimmie's new release blog hop! Tonight all of the new stamps, from the Lulu and little sis Libby collection, Tweens, and Trinkets, to all of our favorite Neverland characters, will be available for purchase in the KKS store!! And don't forget about those amazing Sea Jewels mermaids from our special Krafty Klubhouse release!
You should have arrived at my humble blog from the Krafty Challenge Blog....I'm the first up to bat on this hop;)

I used Wendy and Lost Boy and with some simple masking, created a little storybook scene! This is what happens when I just colour away with no regard for what DP I may use.....CHAOS! Nothing matches and you really have to improvise! But it came together alright, even with the strange colour combo;) I used some MFT dienamics for the scalloped border and sentiment flag, and the bow is amazing silky crushed ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel, as well as the black jute twine.

Next up on the hop is Miss Melanie- our colouring extraordinaire!

Happy Hopping and Shopping!

{KKS preview} Annie's Peter Pan Collection

Super excited about Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps illustrator, Annie Rodrigue's, latest stamps....Peter Pan!!!! I love! We've got Hook, Pan, Wendy, Tink, a Lost Boy, Smee.....

Today is also the beginning of a new Krafty Challenge- and we have a sketch for you to try your hand at!

I went with a pretty CAS card, keeping the embellies minimal on this masculine card.

I love how he is looking at little Tinkerbell! I added clear and mint green spica pen here and there.

I used a sentiment from the Neverland Sentiments set....this set is chalk full of fun sayings! I love it!

You can see more links to designer samples HERE, and remember to leave some love along the way- two lucky ladies (or stamping fellas) will each win a set of THREE stamps!! And if you play along in this weeks sketch challenge, that's another chance to win!

{YNS} Button Flowers

I have a fun little card to share with you today for Your Next Stamp Fun Friday. I wanted to use on of the newly released jar and die sets, but wanted to try to challenge myself to use it in a different way. I like the look of flowers in random mason jars and other odd shaped jars rather than perfect store vases (I guess it's the country in me- and pinterest is bursting with ideas like that!), And so, I decided to use the Jam Jar as a vase!

I stamped the jar in memento ink and coloured with very light grays and blue to make it look a bit more dimensional. I figured out where I would be placing the flowers, and then drew a very faint pencil line to follow with my sewing machine, and stitched stems with black thread. I used buttons from my stash and popped them up on MFT diecut flower bases, then tied them with Ribbon Carousel black jute twine, and glued them to the tops of the stitched stems! I cut the lid using the coordinating YNS jam jar die and popped that up on dimensionals. The jar was then covered with a thick layer of crystal effects to give it the look of real reflective glass!

{KKS meets iSSC} Teen Spirit

Hey there! Emilie Goulet has designed two fun new sets for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps this month, featuring teens! There is the girls set 'Lets hear it For the Girls' and the guys set, 'Smells like Teen Spirit'!

Sorry for the dark pic, but for some strange reason I totally forgot to drag out my ott-lite! I used the gamer boy (this set comes with 3 guys- one curled up on an oversized armchair with a remote, one rocking out on the guitar, and this guy...plus six sentiments!) I coloured him with copics....I added denim texture to his pants and hat using a little swatch of real denim and colourless blender (just make sure you colour them first and be prepared for some bleeding- thats why I cut him out!) I airbrushed the sky with my compressor using a TCP cloud die and MFT grass die. I added a layer of clear glaze on the handheld game , using a glaze pen. The star border and speech balloon are MFT as well.

And here is a close-up of the jeans, cuz I think they look pretty cool!

Do you like the card layout? Well, it's from this weeks iSpy Sketch challenge! This week, the sketch is based on this card by Lori Boyd (3Bugs&Me on SCS). Check out the iSSC blog for more inspiration from the team, and all the info you need to play along this week!

And you can also head over to the Krafty Blog to see a complete list of designers previewing Teens today!

{KKS} New Lulu and Libby Preview

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited to let you all know that our precious Lulu now has a sweet little sister! Welcome Miss Libby to the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps family!

This is such an adorable set, featuring 3 different Lulu/Libby images (Lulu and Libby having tea, Lulu dressing Libby up and the one I used...there are also 5 sentiments!)

I added a handmade flower embellie, made using an MFT die, button and TCP divine twine.

For a list of Krafty Girls previewing today, see the Krafty Blog, and don't forget to leave comments along the way- one lucky stamper will win this Lulu and Libby collection!!

{TCPTUES214} Blow Me Away

Hiya! This week Susan is our hostess with the mostest over at The Cat's Pajamas, and she is our resident stamp/cutup challenge head honcho.....well this week we want you to Blow Us Away! Yep- that's right! Use any stamp with wind, air, blowing (think outta the box a little- blowing on hot soup or tea.....) and the cutups we'd like you to pull out this week are the pinwheel and/or cloud border!

I haven't used the pinwheel cutup in ages, so I was really excited to use it! I must have been thinking about my niece, Gracie, when I started off, because I decided to make her some room decor. She has the cutest little bedroom with that green and pink, shabby-chic cottage feel to it...the one with the cabbage roses and white distressed furniture. You know what I'm talkin' bout!

I found this little 3-pk of terra cotta seed pots at the Dollarama for ...you guessed it, a dollar! I then painted them white with plain old acrylic craft paint. I hotglued some florist foam down and covered it in homemade crimped paper grass (just cut CS strips 1/8" wide and run through your paper crimper- if you don't have a paper crimper, dry emboss the sheet of CS before cutting- I had a sheet in my stash already embossed and it honestly worked just as well, so don't feel like you have to go out and buy a $25 crimper! Best is a very detailed, deep embossing folder). The 'leaves' are just SU satin ribbon bows with the end bits cut short and glued in place.

I assembled the pinwheels (I cut 2 out for each pot, to give it some strength in case a small person would like to manhandle this a bit;) by using a brad to hold it all in place, then hotglued a button tied with bakers twine on the top. I then cut 3 circles of TCP felt (from the Green With Envy collection) using a small spellbinders circle and hotglued a lollipop stick to the back of the pinwheel and covered with the felt circle.

I cut out a couple strips of white clouds and used the coolvetica alphabet to spell out her first, middle and last name in Melon Mambo ink on clouds that I had snipped appart. Her last name wouldn't fit on one cloud, so I just used two and then added a mini glue dot to attach them. Poked a hole through the cloud and fastened onto the stick with more bakers twine. Then I  hotglued the lollipop stick into the foam to make sure it stays in place. All done!! This sounds intense, but the painting was what took the longest! The rest actually came together really quick!

Thanks for stopping by, and check out the sidebar on the Dancing in PJ's blog to see which designers have posted today (and keep checking in for inspiration all week long- we like to keep it coming!)..and if you would like the chance to win a weekly GC or better yet, the whole shebang when we announce who gets to be Swanky Stamper and play along with the next release, then remember to upload your creation to the blog or use the keyword TCPTUES214 when using an online gallery.

Make a card or project featuring a sea or beach theme, share it with us, and you might have a chance to win this new mermaid that I've used on my card!

I was so excited that my new MFT hibiscus die arrived just in time. I totally stole the idea of twine (TCP linen thread) as flower centre from Michele! She pretty much sold me on the darn thing (like I need more dies! lol)..thanks alot enabler!;)

There is alot of dimension on this one- here is a flat view so you can see all the pop up bits;)

I coloured her up with my copics, and then flake by precious flake, I added Stampendous tea stained Mica Fragments (I bought mine at a nearby stamping store, but you can find them online here). It was actually quite easy, just starting at the bottom with some liquid and tweezers and working my way up!
I used spica pen in buttermilk and clear, as well as glaze pen to add some sparkle to the jewels. And the paper is actually MME's Lost & Found Christmas paper! The colours were so rich, just what I was looking for! So don't always rule out your seasonal paper for everyday use!
The ribbon and natural jute twine are from the Ribbon Carousel.

And here is one of the SEVEN sentiments that comes with this set! I LOVE the font on these sweet sentiments!

'Sea' you tomorrow for the Sea Jewels Blog Hop!
