{KKS} Cloud Tutorial

Today I am the featured designer for Kraftin' Kimmie's Tips and Tutes segment! I did a quick video on how I sponge the cloud background behind my stamped images. And please be gentle. I know I am terrible at videos, for multiple reasons: I don't plan ahead, it's all on the fly; I ramble like a drunk who has somehow obtained control of a microphone at a classy function (don't ask if this has ever happened to me); I have no tech skills. It's quite sad really; and I have a potty mouth, so pretty much the whole time I'm 'on camera' I am preoccupied with not cussing. That would be bad for business.

So you can see that I must really love my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps to put myself through the hell and self scrutiny of making a video;)

I used the set Lil' Swashbucklers. I made this a girly pirate card, co-ordinating colours with an older EP pad (maybe last year?). I added some TCP cloud border die clouds, chopped up to be individuals. The sentiment is stamped on one, and a button/twine (TCP) embellie on another. I did some machine stitching and added enamel dots (MME). And my video is actually a quick how-to on sponging the cloud background! You can watch that video HERE! But don't feel like you have to. But if you do, then leave me a nice comment. But if you hate it, remember what your mama taught you- 'if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all' ;) Peace out!

{RC} Teacher Thanks

So today was the last day of school for my boys, and of course I had nothing ready for the teachers, being that I am quite possibly the worlds top procrastinator. So last night at about 11 pm I decided to whip up some thank you cards. Nicely done, Jenny.

Anyway, I managed to move it along fairly fast with this super school-y set from Reverse Confetti, Class Act and the matching Confetti Cuts dies. For the 'thank you' sentiment, I used Forever Fall. The tag is part of the Tag Me Confetti Cuts.

I kept the inside really simple, just some simple stamping from Class Act.

I'm following June's Reverse Confetti colour challenge.

I LOVE PIRATES. Okay, there. That's out of the way! Seriously, I think I may have once been a pirate or at least loved one! Ha! I have the booty for it anyway ;) hehe! This was honestly soooo much fun to colour up! I channeled my inner Jack Sparrow (and it must have worked, because my little one asked me if this was indeed Cap'n Jack! No buddy, this one has boobs. Forgive him, he just turned 5 ;)

I used copics and pastels to really grunge her up a bit, and distressed with some Tim Holtz ink. I adore this sentiment that comes with the set as well! Rum. Enough said.

I added some rustic black jute and a little wooden anchor embellie. A little machine stitching to ground all of the panels. Pretty simple layout but I really felt this image is such a showstopper that it doesn't need much else!

{Avery Elle} Late Father's Day

Hey there! I know this is coming a few days late, but I really lost my stamping mojo last week and did nothing and it was a little hard to get back in the groove, KWIM?

But I have been wanting to use this stamp set, The Man, by Avery Elle for, like, a YEAR or so!! LOL! I saw my friend Sarah (here's her card) use it once and I thought, OMG I need that! And it took me awhile to order it, and then it was out of stock for a bit, yada yada. Anyway, I did receive it a few months ago and looked at it quite a bit, admiring the new glassy clear polymer in it's perfect packaging (what? no one else does that?). Finally I cracked the seal and opened that baby up!!! Now, I think I drink more beer than my husband, but what can I say? He still enjoys it and I thought this would be a perfect stamp to use on a card for him!

So here are some deets. I used a sketch from Viva La Verve (I think this is from MAy) for the layout. I am kind of a scaredy cat with CAS cards and honestly, colouring line art images are more my comfort zone, so I cannot push the envelope when I'm dealing with these graphic stamps…I must not overdo it, you see ;) Stick with one thing I know, and that's a lot of layers and embellies. Junk it up, if you will.
The dies are all from MFT. I fussy cut the bottles and popped one up on foam. The sentiment was stamped on vellum. Memento Luxe is good for that, and I used Expresso Truffle. I added in some gold enamel dots (not the same gold as the star die cuts, but I think the variation is nice). I see that they are no longer available at I{heart}papers at the moment. I used the last of my MFT twine (GASP!) on this card….and I did some distressing and machine stitching….It was a fun one to make!

Okay, here's the inside, using another sentiment that comes with the set, again stamped in Memento Luxe in Espresso Truffle. I added more of those gold enamel dots as well.

Here's that sketch for ya! It's a gooder to keep in the archives!

(RC) Hoot Hoot Hooray, It's Father's Day!

Hey there! Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there! I know I am so blessed to have such a great partner and father to my boys, in my husband! He is truly one of the BEST! And my dad is pretty fantastic as well~ he is such a super 'papa' to all his grandkids and always there for my brothers and I when we need him. We are a lucky family!

I coloured this guy, Oliver from Reverse Confetti, up about a week ago (minus the shirt and tie, which I decided to paper piece)…Sometimes I'll colour up the basics of an image before I know what I am going to do with it, just to save time. I am a person who usually picks paper first, and I colour to match, so this way I can get lots of the colouring done before I get to that step ;) I also added in the glasses last minute (they were stamped in craft ink (SU) and embossed with black powder onto acetate and fussy cut out)…I think this one will go to my FIL for Father's Day because, well, my dad does NOT wear a tie unless someone dies. And even that is a stretch. He actually only owns one tie and I remember he had to buy it for my wedding, 15 years ago. And he was worried it wouldn't be 'fancy enough' for his only daughters wedding because it has horses on it, LOL!! My hubby is also not much of a suit and tie kinda guy….but his dad is! And he also got some pretty fancy new specs that have big black rims! I think it's a good match ;)

So yeah, Oliver is coloured with copics (warm greys and E40's) and that shirt and tie are pieced with DP from Authentique. I like to add a little shading onto the DP when I piece so it doesn't look so 'flat' compared to the rest of the image. The circle dies are MFT and I added in a little tab from the Office Edges Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti as well. I added in a wooden star embellie from MME and black enamel dots (I believe they are MME as well). The sketch layout is of course SSSC….yes, it's that time again! We'd love to have you play with us this week! Here it is:
