{MFTWSC23} Rose

Wow- I actually feel kind of sad that my spot as Guest DT is over:( It has been a very busy and chaotic time in my stamping room and my husband is on the verge of filing for divorce because of all the time I've spent stamping..the only thing holding us back is that neither one of us wants custody of the kids...kidding!!! (kinda)
So this is my last official post as a temporary member of the team:( *sniff sniff* But I guess this house isn't gonna clean itself (I know cuz I've waited it out for a LONG time and nothing ever happens) and the kids apparantly need fed (something about social services stepping in??)...so on with regular life.
This is a great sketch to end on though, and I'll definately keep playing along with the other civilians out there;)
Here is the sketch:
And here is my card....I opted for a ribbon treatment other than the banner strip, but other than that, it's pretty spot on the sketch! Oh yeah, I mirrored it as well....

I used the new PI, Rose. I coloured her with copics, paper-piecing her little dress and adding some shadow to it. Added a bit of sakura pink glitter pen to her sleeve ruffles, heart and barrette, and added a tiny rhinestone to her shoe. I have a love of redheads and freckles, to that's how I did her up, using a prismacolor pencil to give her 'spots'. I even freak about colouring little flowers, such as this rose, but I gave it my best;) As you can see, it's 'outside the box' or oval, in this case! I combined this challenge with The Color Throwdowns colours from last week, pumpkin, melon and celery. The polka dot ribbon and enamel rose embellie are SU, as well as some retired paper that I am sadly getting to the end of the pack on:( I used MFT's simply scallops border dienamic as well.

For the inside, I kept the scallop theme going, added some more ribbon and the sentiment panel in an oval as well, applying rhinestones along the edge.

Thanks for popping by!! Check out the MFT forum over at SCS for more details on how to play this week!

{MFT Blog Hop}WTG- Enjoy the Ride

Can I get a WHOOP WHOOP!!! New release is NOW available! What is your favorite? I think that mine fave's for the release have been PI Popping By and this WTG, Enjoy the Ride set that I chose to work with for tonight's hop.
Okay, so I am the last person on the hop...did you enjoy the gorgeous creations from the DT? I am going to be perusing their blogs for inspiration, that's for sure! What a talented bunch of stampers they are! If you just so happened upon my blog, head over to Kim's blog to start at the beginning of the hop!
Without further adieu, here is my card:

I know what you're thinking, and the answer is 'Yes, the stamp does have a rectangle shape', but I simply didn't stamp the outer lines on the image so that I could use it on a round panel. I drew in her neck (looking at it now, I see she has a neck like a linebacker;) LOL! Oh well!! I coloured her with copics and went over the whole bicycle with a clear spica pen. I cut out the image and the purple outer circle with nestie dies and matted both circles on a sky blue doily, made from MFT's dainty doily dienamic. I also used dainty doily border dienamic , cut from white CS, along the bottom of the text dp. The dp is from an awesome 6x6 pack from Jillibean soup called 'blossom soup'. I finished off the front with some gorgeous SU ribbon tied in a pretty bow.

For the inside, I kept the layout similar to keep the flow continuous. I stamped the sentiment from the mini set that came with the WTG VIP kit earlier this month. Hope you got it- it was super fun! If not, then you better add this set to your cart anyway:) The perfect stamp for summer! And totally great for scrapbook LO's as well!

Well, I just had soooo much fun being a Guest Designer this month for My Favorite Things!! A huge thankyou to the DT ladies that chose my card and gave me this great opportunity, to Kim, the MFT lady, for the awesome prize package and to Jody Morrow for being the mentor for the guest DT's!! She answered all the questions I had as soon as she could and helped me out alot!
Stop by again later for my take on the last WSC that I will be presenting! But I'm sure I'll keep playing along for the awesome inspiration:) Thanks for stopping by! Don't be a stranger:)
Now what are you waiting for???? Go SHOPPING! The new stamps and dies are in the store!

{MFT Teasers- Day 5} WTG

Wow! Last day of teasers before MFT's big release party!!! Today we are previewing three sets!

  • Who's that Girl - Enjoy the Ride

  • Who's that Guy - I Love You Mower

  • Clearly Sentimental about the Journey (Triple Scoop Set)

  •  I love it when a WTGuy gets released!! Seems like a special treat since it doesn't happen all the time:) And I love this one especially because my husband is a real yardwork kind of guy and the sentiments are great in this set as well! So, that's the set that I chose to preview tonight...

I die cut lots of strips of grass using MFT's fresh cut grass dienamic from various green scraps of dp and layered them on another peice of green dp. The rest is pretty simple, stamping the image into cloud patterned dp, then again onto green dp, peicing it. Then once again onto cream CS, colouring him with copics and then peicing over the dp. Spica glitter pen was added to the grey areas on the mower. I stuck a wee bit of the grass die in front of the mower. I layered that stamped panel on a deckled rectangle in chocolate CS and popped it all up on dimensionals. There is a little twill tab added to the stamped panel for some added interest. Twill is a good option for those 'guy cards' when you can't bring yourself to not throw on some kind of ribbon!! I threaded some buttons with brown hemp twine and stamped the sentiment 'I Love You Mower' on a banner flag.

The inside used 3 more grass strips, stamped the mower image, minus the lines around the edge of the stamp in memento rich cocoa, stamping it off once to get a lighter look, and stamped another sentiment in front of the mower in black ink. Cute sentiment, huh?? lol Now if only I had a pool!

Come back for the Design Team's Blog Hop- Tuesday, June 7, 10 pm EST, 8 pm MST! And check out Kim's blog for more awesome previews for todays sets!!

And as for the skin tone copics colours, I will figure out what I used and post it tomorrow as part of my blog hop projects! Thanks for all your lovely comments throughout release week! You guys ROCK!!!

{MFT Teasers- Day 4} Inspired by Flowers

Up for previews today are 2 sets: Inspired by Flowers (set 2) and Sunbathing Flopsey.
I am really going out on a limb and showing you Inspired by Flowers...not by choice, I am NOT a flower person!! But in my awesome prize package I didn't get Flopsey, so I used the flower set instead. It really is a beautiful set, but I am florally challenged;) I don't know how to colour them, nor do I even know what colours they are supposed to be for what kind of flower they are!!
    So here it is:
The stem and leaves are cut out and popped up on dimensionals and liquid pearls are added to the little blossom-y type of things (told ya i don't know my flora!)...spica clear and buttermilk pen was coloured on bits of the petals and flower center. I dry embossed the blue panel, tied some satin ribbon and hot glued some leaf stick pins and a flowery yellow button tied with yellow hemp twine to the bubbly bow.

Here is the inside. The set has some really beautiful sentiments, I chose this one by Christopher Reeve about hope.
I stamped the daisy (??) in memento rich cocoa, stamping it off once, and then stamped the sentiment in marina mist SU ink.

Check out the inspiration from the DT. Kim has a complete list of participating designers on her blog.
    Thanks for stopping by!

    {MFT Teasers- Day 3} The PI's

Hey, Hey, Hey!!! Are you freaking out for todays previews?? I know the PI's are an MFT fan fav, and there are no less than FIVE Pure Innocence kids making their stamping debut!
    • My Little Firecracker
    • Ring Bearer
    • Wedding Flower Girl
    • Popping By
    • Rose
    ***WARNING***
Go potty, get a drink, and put your feet up! This will be the longest post you are likely to ever come across!!!! Please bear with me:)
I have two projects to show you tonight! First of all, I went a different direction and made a 12x12 scrapbook page! And I used a set that at first I didn't think I'd have much need for: My Little Firecracker. Being a Canadian, I obviously don't celebrate the 4th of July, which is the holiday that this set is geared towards, but I did some thinking and decided that I could go with a Canada Day theme! So if you are a Canuck like myself, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater just yet! Minus some of the American sentiments, this can be a pretty fun little set for stampers to the North too!
    Here is my layout:

Now, I have no little girls, and maybe this is a bit of a feminine layout for a picture of a boy, but who cares anyway?? Obviously this is an older Canada Day pic of my eldest son at my parents cabin a few years ago...maybe this Canada Day I'll swap out this pic for one with my nieces in it! I used the Fresh Cut Grass dienamic and my new love, the Fishtail Banner dienamic for the year. My cricut cut out the maple leaves! The girls all have paper-pieced dresses from scraps in my stash, glitter applied to their sparklers and are coloured in various skin tones to represent a diverse nation! I'm VERY new to colouring anyone non-caucasian, so this was challenging, but soooo fun! I have a few caucasian skin tones(including a little freckle-faced redhead!), as well as asian, latina, and african! I think it looks awesome if I do say so myself!! Yay diversity! lol

Okay- are you still here??? I know- I warned you though! For my second project, I used 'Popping By'...This is probably my favorite of the PI's cuz I {heart}movies!! Buying, renting, theatre, made for TV...whatever! I have been wanting to go to a few new releases..Bridesmaids esp.- that's gonna be hilarious! I thought that I'd ask my mom, she really deserves a night out! I made this kind of an invitation type card.
Haha- mom and I don't dress like this and wear lil flower barrettes in our hair, but the symbolism is there!! Best Friends and popcorn- what more could a girl ask for?!
Okay, there is ALOT going on in the card! lol! Plastic filmstrip (torture to work with- can't wait to get that new filmstrip die!! I'm sure it won't fly back and try to slap me in the face everytime I try to place it;), doo-hickies holding the strip in place, sentiment tag, clear plastic stars, butter yellow enamel brads, sequin stars, popcorn and pop up on dimensionals, spica clear glitter pen here and there, and my MOST favorite part of the card....the tickets!!! I used some ancient black type alphabet stickers and spelled out TIX (does anyone call them that even?? I don't know;) and again used the Fishtail banner and a fun little kraft envelope and stuck some real little tickets in there!!

Here is a shot of the 'tickets' out of the envelope...I spelled out You and Me with the same stickers. Freakin' cute or what???? She's gonna flip;)

The inside, with the best sentiment EVAH!! Ah, so true;)
The 'chicks' stamped again, more stars and strip!

Okay- now that you've stayed for the 60 minute duration it took to look at all my pics, if you still have any energy left, head on over to the MFT blog to see a list of links to more PI masterpieces!!
    Thanks a million:)

    {MFT Teasers- Day2} Jolinne

Hey MFT fans! First of all, thanks for all of your lovely comments yesterday on my Fred Bear card! I really enjoyed reading them and appreciate each and every one of them!
Today we are previewing 3 more sets:
    • Clearly Sentimental about Friendship (previous Triple Scoop Set)
    • Jolinne - I Love You This Much
    • Pretty Pocket
I used Jolinne on my card, and as promised, I am showing you something really far from my usual style! And, GASP, I didn't use copics to colour, instead I watercoloured!! I know- shocking!!
So here it is! I tried to take inspiration from some of the masters, in my opinion, of the shabby-chic, femine, vintage kind of look, Betsy Veldman and Melissa Sauls.

I used an old bingo card, scuffing up the edges and spraying it with glimmer mist. I then added a heart punched in pink and then vellum and added a pink button ties with linen thread (in place of the 'O' in ADORE), a bit of crochet ribbon peaks out from behind.

I watercoloured Jolinne using an aquapainter and various inks on watercolour paper and distressed the edges as well. You can see a Dainty Doily Dienamic spritzed with glimmer mist behind the jolinne panel and bingo card. I die cut 3 butterflies (2 from vellum and 1 from pink CS- all misted) and layered them, adding heart stickpins and a linen thread bow and vintage looking button. As you can see, there is a few 'runs' with the glimmer mist and that's why I don't usually use it, but I figured it's supposed to look homemade, so what the hey;)
A bit of crochet ribbon and a pink, satin bubbly bow finish it off!

On the inside, I used another misted doily die, more threaded vintage buttons and distressed paper. I stamped the die with one of the sentiments that comes with Jolinne in memento rich cocoa ink (I find it has a softer look than black ink).

I wish the pics showed the shimmer more, it is really pretty IRL! Plus, my aquapainter had some shimmer paint left on it from a previous project, so the watercolouring took on a really irridescent look! Twinkling H2O's without the cost;)
Check out Kim's blog for a list of participating designers!

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow for another MFT preview!

    {MFT Teasers- Day1} Fred Bear

Hey my stampy friends! I am trying to keep this an upbeat post, as I sit here with a horrible sinus cold, earache, sore throat and fever:( And just as hubby came home (which is good, because I am not feeling the 'parenting' vibe today! But we had lots of yardwork planned, tree panting, flower beds, etc. I am supposed to be supervising a grade one feild trip to the Children's Festival, so hopefully by the time you are reading this I am feeling good and hanging out with my big boy and 20 of his little posse;) If not, I am laying in bed, doped up on dayquil.
Are you pumped to see all the brand new goodies that My Favorite Things has to offer in their release?? You should be cuz it's a gooder! And I was lucky enough to be chosen as this month's Guest DT member- just by playing along..do it! You never know when it might be your lucky month! Today the DT and myself are previewing a few new sets, Fred Bear- Well Done and First Place Award Ribbon.
I am working with Freddy (we are tight, so I can call him that;)....this is going to be my DH's Father's Day card. Craig loves BBQ'ing and is really good at it! I, on the other hand tend to burn overcook everything. I think he'll like it!

Everything is pretty straightforward. Coloured with copics, brads added here and there. Some cute little fishtail banner dies with the sentiment on one, and some stacking stars dienamics layered in various colours as the main embellishment. I tied a brown button with SU's linen thread and attached a cool metal flipper charm to the twine. It's fastened down with a mini glue dot to keep the charm from flopping around. Fred Bear's apron pocket and hat are paper-pieced and he is standing atop double layers of fresh cut grass (cut with another dienamic)...one positive and the other the negative side.

You can see from this picture that I applied some glaze to his nose and eyes, and spica clear glitter pen to the BBQ tools, BBQ, and burger edges. You can also see a close up of the sparkly steel BBQ and little metal flipper- isn't it sweet!

I left the inside blank so that the kids have room to sign their names (you know how they like to make 'em big!!). A few brads and some more stacking stars tie in the design from the front.

Now head on over to Kim's blog to see a list of all the designers previewing one, or both of the teaser sets today!
Stop by again tomorrow for another preview! I went a little out of my bold and bright comfort zone into the world of shabby-chic...stop by and tell me if I should stick to what I know;)
