Happy Birthday Dude!!

EEK!! I am super excited to show you this card!! It's my first Pop Up Box Card and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it came out! I made it for my nephew's 6th Birthday. He is obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…which is kind of cool, because I remember my brother to be their #1 fan when he was a little boy! The TMNT love has come full circle ;)

This card honestly took me forever to make LOL! Mostly because it was a ton of die cutting! Very little punches were used and just the one stamp on the back of the box, which you'll see later on in the post. I'll also list all of the dies that I used at the end.

I knew I wanted to make Lucas a TMNT card, as we got him some turtle gear and toys and his party was also TMNT themed! So I searched on Splitcoast Stampers and found THIS card, which was my inspiration. So thanks, Rochelle, at Creative Corner Studio! I wish I could say that I came up with this idea on my own, but I'm just not that good ;)
I also followed the SCS tutorial on how to make a Pop Up Box Card. You can find that tutorial HERE. I used the A2 Horizontal size.
The 'Pizza' was so fun to make!! I really dug into my stash of die-namics to find the right shapes for my toppings (plain pepperoni, cheese and sauce is what the kids go for!)…thankfully I have a good haul of dies from my days as a designer for My Favorite Things. Every die cut shape you see on the card is from MFT, with the exception of the turtles eyes and their smiley mouths! That is it! Those things were made using small circle punches for the eyes and a large oval punch, all Stampin' Up!

Seriously, how CUTE is this pie???? Yum!

I wanted a little birthday greeting stamp or something to add and this pizza stamp from Pizza My Heart by SugarPea Designs was PERFECT! I wrote in a message on the top and bottom of the circle. You can see here the back of the box once its standing up. I used a reptile embossing folder to add some interest to the CS (and YES, I know turtles are amphibians hehe). Every side panel and the underside of the flaps are a different turtle colour. I backed each of the turtle heads with more CS so you can't see the mask tails glued to the back.

Each of the turtles is a different colour of green! Just like the real turtles!

Here is the card laying flat. If you wanted it to fit in an A2 envie, just don't make things hang off the edges so much LOL! The manhole cover is way off the top, as well as the blue mask.
I just used a larger envelope.

And here's the flaps folded up.

THUD!! Wow, Jenny! This is amazing and totally rad! Oh, wait, that's the 80's TMNT. Are you going to give it to a 6YO? I mean, I'm sure he'll like it, but will he treasure it always and put it in a memory box? He will, right? I'm blown away - this is fantastic!

You did a super job on this card. Outstanding!! I have made the card in a box but used balloons or flowers not the turtles with many small pieces.

This is so cute.I remember the TMNT so well. I love this box. If I had all the material to make this I would. You did a fantastic job.Your nephew is going to love this. How special it will be for him even if it gets torn up he'll have pictures to look at years from now and remember how his Aunt made this just for him. He may never remember the gift, but the card..........oh, yes!

I've sat here with my mouth open in awe for about 3 minutes looking at all the fabulous details of this card. WOW WOW WOW. I can see how it would have taken you forever. I remember when my son was a TMT for Halloween about 15 years ago. Sweet memories! I hope his mama sets this card up for him - it's a keeper :o).
