Gettin' Krafty with Kimmie & crew!

Wow- my posts are just getting more original by the day;) hehe! FINALLY, Blogger is up and running! Our worlds were turned topsey turvey for almost a full 24 hours! Some of us even had to resort to cooking and cleaning to pass the time (my will was strong and I resisted the urge to pick up a mop and bucket;)!
I am coming in just under the wire with the weekly challenge from Kraftin' Kimmie- to use kraft on your project...I had really intended to use more kraft on my card, and then at the end I looked at it and thought 'Hmmm, missed the mark on this one a little, but there is some kraft CS as well as krafty coloured woodgrain dp and a krafty coloured bear:)
I used Mojo Mondays sketch for this one.

See that skinny, itty bitty strip matting the main chocolate base? That's my kraft people- pathetic, I know;) But Kimmie and the Krafty Girls are a laid back, loose (not pointing any fingers;) bunch of gals, so I think they won't mind too much. Don't cha just LOVE these little bears?? They are so cute, although I must admit that I had to go find one of the kids stuffies to get the panda right..it was one of those moments where you just can't recall what goes where...I knew the eyes, ears and face, but I could not for the life of me figure out if it's black with white tummy, or white with black tummy!
The dp is cratepaper, the CS, linen thread and ribbon is SU!, the buttons are unknown...I dabbed a wee bit of crystal effects on their eyes and noses.

The sentiment is stamped in the lower right corner. The punched border is a Martha S punch. Well, that's about it for me! I am also entering this card in The Spotted Chicks 'That's Krafty Thursday'.  I will be posting my MFT sketch challenge later tonight, so check back again soon!

{TCPTUES158} Welcome Baby!

Hey there! Today I have for you The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday colour challenge brought to you by the bright & bold cat packer Tori. She always has the BEST colour combos around, so she was a perfect fit for the colour challenges after Sony left the pack. Go check out Tori's blog and you'll see what I mean;)!!
And according to Tori and some celebrity fashionistas, grey is the new black! Grey...gray...grey...is this another Canadian/American thing? I think so! I know all my friends to the south probably think I am some kind of strange in the way that I spell 'colour' but that's actually the right way;) Sorry guys- you have been misspelling it all along..Haha!!!
Anyway- enough with the hijinks...time to get serious with stamping! I got my TCP order a few days ago and I had been itching for this stamp set  'And Baby Makes...' for awhile now, so I couldn't wait to get this big 'ol hippo and her baby inked up! AND.......My good, good friend Miss Mindy Shingoose (not her real name, but the loving moniker I appointed her with) just had her 3rd baby boy!!!! Eeeekk! Another member ordained into my select club (insert evil laugh here).
So here is my card for my hippo friend and her new babe (although she is probably fit as a fiddle again....good genes and all!) Mind- I know you'll see this before I get to see you and Baby J, so think of it as a preview:) I miss you terribly and can't wait to come and visit and give loads of snuggles to the newest lil piggy!

This card is actually kind of funny, as it pretty much incorporates a few of the last bunch of TCP challenges: Baby (TCP 154), buttons (TCP 157) and the colour combo for today:) I used my pinking border die to make a double sided border to go diagnally across the card, and my Button and Button Flowers cutups for all the fun little button-y goodness!
You likey the sentiment?? I used two different phrases from this set, stamping the 'Sweet' in blue ink in between the black 'welcome baby' verse. Just use a little scotch tape over the part you want left out, ink, then simply remove the tape before you stamp! Easy peezy, lemon squeezy!

Come and play along with us this week for your chance to win some cat cash and don't forget about our monthly Swanky Stamper contest for an opportunity of fame and fortune, TCP style! Just link up your creations here.

{MFTWSC18} Fur-ever Friends

Hey there! Todays card is the Mother's Day card that I made for my SIL Mandi...if you are reading this STOP NOW! haha! I used this weeks WSC from My Favorite Things.

For my focal image, I used Jolinne 'Friends Forever' . She is coloured iwith copics and paper-pieced. I also pieced the bear and shaded a bit with my copics. Jolinne's ribbons and lips as well as the bears nose, have clear spica glitter pen added.

Whoa- the hair looks really dark in this pic! I used E25, 27, 47 &49. The flower is Prima and the pearls are Recollections from Michaels. I used all scrap paper for this card! Whoo hoo!

I popped up the bear on dimensionals and peiced her little hand on top..I LOVE how the bear turned out! I was stretching a little with the script dp, but I think it ended up pretty cool!

And some MFT dies on the inside! On an un-crafty note, we had Ryan's belated birthday party, combined with Hayes' 2nd birthday this past weekend...swimming and then a party at our house. Ryan requested an OWL birthday cake, and I came up with these cupcakes, which passed the test for him!

My niece Gracie on the left, Ryan in the middle and Jake on the right.

And my 'baby' who just turned two years old!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Mother's Day

Original title- I know;) tee hee! How are you spending mommy's day? I am spending it with my 4 favorite guys- my hubby and 3 lil munchkins! DH made me a yummy brunch- french toast, bacon, eggs, fruit..mmmm! And he cleaned up afterwards and did dishes! I had a lovely, almost uninterupted jet tub and read my book (The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larssen... the 3rd in a fabulous series!), and watched a Scooby Doo movie. And I got in some stampin time...I already had this card made, but I wanted to make my SIL a card too, so I'll post that in a few:) The card I'm showing you today is one that I made for my mama- a very special lady who is my bff too!! Aren't I a lucky duck? And she lives just down the road from me, so I can see her whenever I darn well please...she is my coffee buddy! And she is the world's best grandma to boot!
I loved this image from MFT... the sentiment did me in!

I coloured my flapper doodle and flapper doodle jr with copics, sponged the inside of the oval nestie with memento cantaloupe ink. The flowers are a mix of SU paper daisies and making memories (green assortment) The crystal brads and brown ribbon are SU as well. The dp is KaiserCraft 'Nan's Favorites'. A fun little 6x6 pad with some cute, kitschy patterns:)

The inside mimics the card front. I used the SSS106 for the card layout. Well, I best be spending some more quality time with the fam....hubbers leaves in a few days for the rest of the month on another long hitch:( So I'll likely be licking my wounds and pouting in my stamp room whenever I get the chance- I guess stamping beats emotional eating! lol! Have a happy rest of the day all Mom's out there- We have the toughest, deeply rewarding and MOST important job going!! Never underestimate the importance of being 'just a mom'!!!! Bless all the moms!!

Oh, I almost forgot! Here are a few pics of my little ones this morning at our family breakfast!

{TCPTUES157} Button Bear

Hey there fellow TCP fans (and if you aren't a fan, you better get on board!)...time for TCP Tuesday:) Today's challenge is brought to you by the super sweet, nuturing Cat-packer Julie. She has challenged her fellow kitties to get out the buttons! I LOVE buttons and had such plans to go button-nuts...but this card got away on me and took on a mind of it's own, and before I knew it, the card was done with only 2 stacked cork buttons (cut from my TCP buttons die) and a single green cord button, threaded with a TCP Divine Twine bow. But the card is done and I think sometimes more is not always more, so I had to let my desire to pile on the buttons go;) hehe!

My card features the sweet Big Bear from the sset 'Bear Hugs'...the sentiment inside is from that set and it also comes with a few other phrases.
Oh yeah, and I used one of my favorite and most versatile cutup dies on this as well, the Big Scallop die!! People- you HAVE to have this one...seriously, go to Costco and buy a case of KD to live on for a week and buy that die!!! Scurvy and Rickets will be worth it....trust me! LOL!

I wanted that cork button to have a bit of strength, so I just cut 2 and stacked them together. See Big Bears heart popped up on dimensionals and his lil paws too? I love alot of dimension on a card! Here is also a closer view of that great Divine Twine in 'Brown Sugar'.....

And the view from the other side...a little zig zag stitching on the vertical panel...cork scallop die included.

I kept the inside really simple, as the front is a little on the heavy side;) I think this would make a good all-occasion card..baby, friend, bday...whatever:) Another great TCP set!
Thanks for popping in! Head on over to the Dancing In Pajamas blog to see a list of the designers posting for today's challenge! And be sure to link up your card on that blog to be elidgeable to win weekly Cat Cash and your chance at the coveted title of TCP's Swanky Stamper of the Month!

Bluejean & Bling!

Hi all- hope you had a fantastic weekend! I just got home from my weekend retreat, where I got a few challenges accomplished as well as my TCP swap!! AND I watched a few good movies: 1) Slumdog Millionaire (I know, I know....but I had still not seen it..WOW!!! and 2) Black Swan- holy...deep and dark but surprisingly good! Natalie Portman was amazing! No wonder she won the oscar (and golden globe I heard). The food was delish and hospitality unbeatable! Thanks Lynne!

One of the challenges that I wasn`t going to enter and decided to last minute is MFT`s guest DT of the month contest....the theme this month is denim and diamonds...bluejean and bling.....rhinestone cowboy;) Whatever you want to call it! I didn`t take a ton of MFT stamps with me, but I did take a few...it was a choice between 2 Jolinnes or Fred Bear! hehe- Jolinne won by a landslide!
I also used MFT`s weekly sketch (WSC#17) for this one:

Here is my card:

I used a fair bit of dark blue denim as trim (MFT ric rac die and frayed scrap), matting, and the flower accent (MFT rolled rose die-namic), as well as in the inside, with a nestie die and the stars (MFT stacking stars die-namic). The bling is an assortment of i-rock crystals (swirl), SU clear rhinestone brad (rose center), Taylor`s tiny twinkles (star border (MFT) centers, Jolinne`s necklace, hair flower, purse flower, and shoe buckles). I like this card- it looks so much better IRL- the picture doesn`t do the card justice! And I think it looks really western with the colours and the denim and gingham red ribbon....too bad jolinne doesn`t have a cowboy hat on!! Maybe we need a cowgirl jolinne some day!

That`s it for me tonight! I have a few more sweet cards that are already made up, so I should have steady posts for the rest of the week:)

Thanks Sew Much Kraftin Kimmie!

Hi! This is my last Saturday challenge as a Guest DT over at Kraftin Kimmie:( It's been a fun month, but probably the most hectic of my life thus far!! But I guess when it rains, it pours!! This last challenge is a fun one- Flowers!! May flowers hopefully, but I live here in frigid Alberta, where winter never ends....so I don't think there will be flowers here for awhile (except in my stamp room of course, where flowers are plentiful:) So in my final few minutes of fame, I'd like to thank Kim 'sew' much for chosing me! I am really so honoured to be recognized for something that I love so much! It really makes me a happy, happy girl!! I have had a blast this month! Kim and the DT are sooooo supportive and really made all the guests feel appreciated:) Thanks to you too Krafty Girls! You ladies ROCK!

So, on with the show as they say! For the challenge I decided to go a little atypical. Instead of my first thought, which was to pull out one of my 4 million prima-type flowers, I thought "I'm a crafty girl, I'll just make a flower"...then I had to consider what kind of flower to make. I thought about making a scrunchy-punch flower, but then I remembered that I was recently inspired by a really talented central Alberta cardmaker (like me!!) that I stumbled across in cyber space. Melissa makes THE coolest ribbon flowers EVAH!!! Mine is seriously decrepit compared to hers, but it was my first time, so what the heck! You have got to go check out her blog- her style is amazing:)

I stamped this little sewing mama (her name is Mona The Seamstress) and coloured her to resemble my mom (even the old fashioned black singer she has on display, to the distressed looking hard wood floor that I drew in) I actually bought this stamp because I thought that it looked so much like my mom!!! She's a quilter, so I am imagining a nice cozy quilt that she's running through the machine and not a pair of stained old wranglers that she's patching for my dad;)...it kinda looks like a pantleg that she's running through.

I coloured the image up with copics and added spica clear glitter pen to the metal parts as well as the rim of her glasses (CE is on the glasses as well)I used some MME Stella & Rose dp, SU CS, SU border trim punch, and SU ribbon to make the flower. I sewed around the smaller rectangle panels and down the middle of the SU border. The inside follows the same general layout with both the sentiment and the accessory stamp used. I also used copics and spica on the scissors.

The sketch layout that I used was SSSC for this week.
