Think Pink #1

Well, my week is starting to look a little better:) Ryan is feeling better and I think tomorrow he will be back in school just in time for the weekend! Today my middle son had a preschool trip to a local dairy farm, so that was fun! He climbed a fence and before I knew it, he was in the pen with the calves just having a time:) What a little farmer he is! This afternoon I made homemade cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing and took them out the field after supper for the 'combiners'...hopefully they get the crop off before the snow flies, as they are predicting:( SOOOO not ready for that!! And I managed to get some stampin in while the baby napped and my dough was rising!
Over at The Cats Pajama's there is a customer blog hop going on, and in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the theme is 'PINK'! Now, I don't have to much pink hanging about, so you might see some paper overlap in the next few days!! Bare with mama on this one, K?;)

Remember a few posts back when I used this sweet whale stamp to make a bday card and I said that I thought it was a versatile stamp set? Well, here it is as a baby card! I wouldn't have used it as a 'girl' card as my first choice, but now that I've fulfilled the 'pink' requirement, I kind of like it as baby girl card:) I wanted it to look really delicate and subtle, so there isn't a huge amount of contrast in the paper choices. There's alot of stitching on this one and sponging on every edge....the whale is paper-pieced and her sailers hat is coloured with copics and popped up on dimensionals, There is also a little rhinestone star on her hat. I added a baby braddy to her eye for some extra detail. I sponged the plain pink flower with chocolate ink, added a brown felt flower and white button and some chocolate bakers twine to finish off the whole ribbon treatment. I added the rhinestone flourish and hope that it looks a bit like this whale is blowing some bubbles:) I am not impressed with the lighting on this photo...its WAY nicer IRL!!! But, I bet they all say that;) lol

Snow Adorable

Hey there! I don't know about all of you, but I am still trying to recuperate from Thanksgiving weekend;) I had a wonderful weekend with my down-south family..I always hate leaving them, but it's good to get home. Even though the laundry is taller than my 4 yr old:) lol! I have had a poor, sick boy this week, so he has been home from school all week. Hopefully he is feeling better by tomorrow! He was up at 12:30 and was pretty much continually throwing up until 6 am. Which was not even the reason that he was home from school in the first place. He started off with a wicked cough that sounded like it went into his chest and then out of nowhere a GI bug?? Kids. You just can't figure them out.
This card was really fun to make, as I am a 'boy mom'. The challenge over at MFT WSC this week is to make a boy, or masculine card. I was going to use my new little MFT superhero guy, but then I had a dream last night (or maybe it was just a hallucination, being that I was practically awake all night,and  during my periods of dozing off to be jolted back to reality by the serene sounds of dry heaving?) about making a tone on tone style card. I thought that this little winter guy would make for a nice monotone (??) kind of scene. I also used Jen's SFYTT this week.

This little man is stamped and only his face and boots were coloured. His hat, sweater, scarf and pantsn were all coloured using a q-tip and ink pads. I think it gives a watercolour or chalked look, without all the work. I also tried to make his pants and toque look like actual wool. I like the look I think. And I think I may have invented this;) I don't remember seeing anyone else do it...never know;) The brownish silver snowflake BG panel was run thru the bigshot using SU's new snowflake folder. I used the negetive side. I also used the swiss dots folder for some added detail. Everything is distressed  and sponged a ton to give it a vintage look. I used assorted SU punches and dies, and a spellbinders nestie. The main image panel and snowflake are popped up on dimensionals. I also used smooch paint on the boys mitts, dogs scarf and the small snowflake, as well as on the inside of the card (on the swiss dots and snowflake)

I used SU's new glass glitter on his hat pom-pom and scarf tassel. Man, is it ever cool stuff!!! I can't wait to get the other champagne colour now (this is the silver). The little vintage tag is SU as well.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well, this will be a short post as me and my boys are heading south to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with my family down there. The hubby is still away working in Saskatchewan, and my family is all busy harvesting, so we thought we may as well go for a little trip! I whipped up these cards this morning so that I'd have something to take them;)
I mass produced quite a few in a short time. Wish I could take credit for this idea, but I actually saw a similar card made by someone else and thought that it was a pretty fun and simple idea, so here is my version of the Button Tree card:

Feeling a little Witchy.....

Well, it goes without saying that I wasn't chosen for MFT's Guest DT for this month...but my favorite card in the gallery was, so Congrats to Eva! I guess I'll just have to buy what I want like everyone else;) lol!
Last night my SIL Ashley came over and we made some cards...she worked on Thanksgiving ones and I made 2 of these lil Halloween witch cards for my neices. I still have one more niece card and 3 nephew cards to make and of course 3 lil boy ones for my rugrats! Maybe I'll get on that this afternoon. I am heading out after I drop Jake off at preschool and Hayes and Mommy are doing some Stampin Up! Deliveries:)

 Here's the deets: No ribbon, No flowers, No buttons??? Gasp!! What has happened to me??? LOL! I used some crazy Halloween paper from Reminisce. I matted the little strips in black CS and then added eggplant liquid pearls around the perimeter for a little somethin-somethin;)
The sweet little witch is from CC Designs. She was stamped onto white CS, coloured with copics and cut out. I also added copper stickles to the owl and her shoe buckle. Diamond stickles were applied to her hat, dress and shoes (only in certain places and VERY sparingly- I didn't want to create complete sparkles, just in places, like shading:) She is popped up on dimensionals. I used MTSC for my layout on this card. Thanks for looking:)

Chalk it up to a crazy finish to a crazy day, but I completely forgot to tell you my good news! On friday as I was busy getting ready for my weekend retreat, I found out that I had won The Cats Pyjama's Swanky Stamper of the Month for October with this card!!!!! I was actually really surprised! It was a great email from Alma and I am so excited to get the new stamps that I ordered with my Cat Cash! Whoo hoo!!! Anyway, better go, Kids are in bed and mama's still recovering from my weekend of scrappin!

Flopsey, Tea and a Shady Tree & some good news too!!!!!

Oh my. Today has been one of those days where it has been almost impossible to get a card done. And...it's MFT's October DT Challenge (MFGUESTDT1010) due day!! But I did manage to get mine done in time (barely;) The cahllenge was to use the colours raspberry, lime green and aqua with optional yellow.

I used MFT's Tea with Flopsey, coloured him with copics, and shaded with a prismacolour pencil. I added clearr spica glitter pen to the teacup and his nose. The image is cut out with spellbinders die. The scallop panels running vertically are MFT dies. The large flower and small raspberry flower are SU paper daisys that I died with my reinkers to make a tie-dye looking flower. The center button is a TCP button die, as I had no buttons in my stash that matched, so I cut my own button out of 4 layers of razzleberry CS. the DP is SU and Basic Grey. I attached small paper daisys and punched flowers to the tree and glued pearls in the centers. Not sure where the aqua crochet ribbon came from. Not super thrilled with the way this turned out, and I think its the dyed flower?? doesn't match great, but I had to mix colours to try and come as close as I could:) Oh well, there are some really beautiful cards in the gallery for the challenge, so some lucky gal will be winning an amazing prize pcakage...maybe someday it will be me!!

Retreat Time Baby!!!

Good morning all! TGIF!! As you read this, I will be packing my scrappin stuff and heading off for a weekend retreat! This is an automated post, so I hope it works :)
And guess what?? I was nosing around Mercy's blog (MTSC) and found that my card (see it HERE) from last weeks challenge was chosen as one of Mercy's Magnificent Musings for the week!! Yay ME! LOL! Made me pretty excited anyway:) My mom said she was proud even if there was no cash prize involved;) Thanks Ma!

Thought that I'd give you a little treat before I'm away for a few days....This card I made with my 3 neices in mind: Gracie, Harley and Elli. They are seriously 3 of the sweetest little things ever and I'm so lucky to be their auntie. And since I have no daughters of my own, I can predict years of spoiling them rotten ahead! lol
Not sure if I'll make them this exact card, but the stamp and the delicious papers are staying for sure! I am in love with this new christmas paper from Cosmo Cricket.....the purple and red combo is simply amazing!

Isn't she sweet?? Meet CC Designs newest Emma! I swiped her off a stock cart at my LSS..she hadn't even made it to the shelf yet when I stashed her quickly away in my basket of treasures! (and her little brother too! Well, I couldn't very well take one home and not the other! What kind of a person do you think I am?) Stay tuned for him in the next week:) He is a cutie too! I coloured lil Emma with copics and paper-pieced her santa suit and hat. Her belt and boots are coated with CE and her buckle is sparkling with stickles (man I am addicted to stickles and CE lately;) I glued a scrap of fuzzy yarn-type stuff to her hat and red pearls at the ends of her braids. I dabbed her cheeks with copic opaque white paint. She is popped up on dimensionals a top the nestie 'nest' of dp. The panels were all machine stitched. I added 3 sparkly green brads (reminiscence- Michaels) and the sentiment is embossed with craft ink and irridescent ice embossing powder (all SU). The green satin ribbon was found in my stash and the crochet ribbon is SU. This is the same Mojo sketch that I used on my last post.

I tried colouring her skin a little darker than I usually do, as my skin colour wasn't photographing good and it looked like I hadn't even coloured my people at all. It seems to be working better, so I'll keep doing that:) If you ever are curious as to which colours i use, just ask and I'll do my best to help you out. I don't always post the colours I use, as it takes longer and my time is scarce;)
