MFT Guest Designer Challenge for December

Wow- there is some serious talent out there! I just uploaded my card to SCS for My Favorite Things guest DT challenge, and let me tell you that it's likely to be a cold day in heck before I win...and not because I think I am a brutal stamper....cuz there are such creative chicks out there- It's CRAZY!!!!! I think of these ladies with their mundane day jobs, pounding away on a keyboard in a grey cubicle somewhere, or cleaning the toilet at the elementary school, or driving a bus, or milking cows...whatever everyone does all day. And thats when I think that it's so surreal that these regular gals are superstars at night, stamping away in their various little studios, corners of the family living room, repurposed closets or kitchen tables....isn't that nuts!! There is such a vast amount of creativity out there, just wanting to burst out!! Wow. that was deep. I'm literally exhausted from that whole spiel;)
So onward with this little (but still darned cute, although def not in the top 10) contribution to the MFT challenge.....
So, this months challenge was 'Stitch It Up'...so I stitched snowflakes in the dp (just copying the pattern on the paper with my needle and thread). Then stuck SU rhinestones in the middle of each flake. Zig zagged and straight stitched around the panels with my machine. Added a MFT tree die to the scene, and added 'snow' to the branches and ground with chunky glitter. Paper peiced and copic coloured the image. Added the dog from another set (boy in snowsuit and dog...can't remember the name) so it looks like he is having a leisurely ride in the sleigh..I like that part:). Added taylors tiny twinkles in blue to the girls coat buttons. Added diamond stickles and dazzling diamond glitter to her hat and boot fur. Stickles are on the tree decorations and the star and CE on the pups nose. I cut TCP's new snowflake cutup die and trimmed it to make it a better size for the card. stuck that on top of a striped old olive ribbon bow and added a fancy, glittery button and twine bow to that....Isn't that tree cool?? It cuts and embosses the woodgrain...LOVE IT!! I had never used it before- can u believe it?? I was sitting on a goldmine;) I like how the leaves come seperate (which i didn't use as I want my tree to be bare for the winter)
Well, thats a wrap! can you tell I'm exhausted?? Short and sweet post...I think I'm getting sick so I am going to hit the sack right away!! But at least i pulled myself together to give you a little eye candy...I'm afraid my little group of followers are going to abandon me if I don't put out! lol!!
Here's a few more pics and you can see better that hand stitching (which I did at the pool while the boys were at their swimming lesson tonight):

Oh yeah! See the detail on that tree!!? and look at that lazy little dog....reminds me of my old dog Bailey. I forgot to mention that the tree and girl/sleigh image are all popped up on dimensional boosters. Don't know why I gave him that red nose?? I know real dogs don't have bright red noses..must have rudolph on the brain..I gave my santa from my last post a red nose too;) haha
Recipe:
Stamps: MFT (sending you a little chrsitmas, and the dog (??))
Ink: Memento
DP: retired SU
CS: SU
ribbon/ twine: SU
other: Snowflake die (TCP), tree die (MFT), button (stash), felt (MFT), stickles, glitter (SU), copics, Crystal Effects (SU), taylors tiny twinkles (SU), rhinetstones (SU), dimensionals, thread

I'm still here!!

Hey there! I confess that I have been a terrible blogger this past week, so I just wanted you to know that I am still here, so don't give up on me yet!! lol! I put on a little card making night at my house on Firday and had a cozy little group of five fabulous stampers here making some sweet Christmas cards...we had wine, treats and no party is complete without the coveted 'mushroom dip' (sounds gross, but trust me, it's freakin amazing.....i really should give it a better name;). So between preschool and fieldtrips, swimming lessons and cardstock cutting, I haven\t had any time to just make a card for fun!! Plus I went to a little homebased business open house today and didn't even sell ONE SINGLE CARD!!!!!! Oh well! I am not to worried about that, as I make cards simply because I love creating! I am not in it for the money (there isn't any!) So I am not in the dumps over that at all- I got to spend the afternoon visiting with my awesome SIL Mandi so that in itself was worth the trip:) So, tonight I am hanging with my monkeys watching Jim Carrey in The Grinch That Stole Christmas by the roaring fire...what could be better? Besides having hubby here! Check in tomorrow- if anything I'll post the cards from my class
Cheers,
Jenny
P.S. I am up to 15 followers, so I am feeling pretty cool about myself right now;) lol Whoop Whoop! Let's here it for Jan for being #15!!

TCP Green Santa

Happy Wednesday! It's -45 degrees celcius with the windchill, so school was closed and I have all my little boys home today:) I built a fire and the kids are happily playing 'farm' downstairs! Here is a card using one of the brand spankin' new sets from TCP!!

I've used the eco-conscious Santa, just one of the 10 new sets and the apron lace die, one of 4 dies. I tried to keep the theme 'green' so I used more earth tone colours, a little bit of cork and some fiber. See how nicely that die cuts through cork? A green cord button and some copper eyelets add some interest. I coloured the image with my copics, added some white shimmer paint to his coat, hat and beard and a teensy amount of spica clear glitter pen to the bows on the presents and gears on the glider (?)...the main panel and sentiment were sponged with kiwi kiss ink from SU.

Here is a closer look at that front panel. You can see the subtle shimmer on his furs and beard...Like the little red button nose?

Die cut cork and some more of that awesome BG patterned paper finish off the inside, as well as a sentiment that comes with the set!

Recipe:
Stamps (TCP), apron lace die (TCP), ink (memento, SU), CS (TE, SU), DP (basicgrey- jovial), twine (unknown), eyelets (unkown), cord button (SU), pearlized paint (SU), punch (SU), Copics, spellbinders, cork (MFT), sponge, dimensionals (SU), Spica

TCP Releases and Blog Hop!!!!!!

Wow!!!! It's finally here! Release day over at The Cats Pajama's!! Welcome to TCP's release Blog Hop! If you came to me via Sony then you're on the right track! If you just happened upon my little blog by sheer coincidence, head on back to the beginning at Jen's and start from scratch so you can see all the Cat Packer's creations! Jen is the hostess for TCP Tuesday and her challenge is to make your own embellishment using TCP dies. These are some seriously talented stampers, so trust me, you don't want to miss any of it!
But before you skidaddle over there to shop, first lets see what I have for you:) I've had a chance to play with all my gifties from Alma and I've come up with a couple of sweet projects to share with you! First off, my very favorite, made with the oh so naughty bunny that I've grown to love (he reminds me of my 4yr old Jake who suffers from a bad case of middle child syndrome and therefore is always getting into mischief....did I mention that his most recent crime was cutting off Tab 1 of my bigshot platform?? To make it all the more heinous, he proceded to cut it into a million pieces so that I can't even use the dismembered piece as a shim!!) Anyway, seems like something this little bunny would do, if given the opportunity!
Along with this new stamp 'Define Good', I also used the new snowflake die, Button die and apron lace border Cutups dies (you can barely see it peaking out from under the pink felt snowflake). These dies are fab, and as you can see, they easily cut right through felt (even with a faulty bigshot platform;). So, mt embellie is this snowflake with the laquered buttons and string I wanted my snowflake to be a bit smaller, so I simply cut off the longest parts and it made it quite a bit smaller...see- very versatile! I also used TCP's button dies and crystal effects to make this little original embellie in the centre of the snowflake! Cute, huh? Bunny also has chunky glitter on his furry santa hat and some CE on his wet little nose:)

Did you notice the prezzies?? They are really decked out! I popped some up on dimensionals, added ribbon, strings, stickles...basically decorated them as if they were the size real life boxes and not 1/2"...oh well- I guess the arthritis will be worth it;)
Here's a better look at that apron lace die on the inside of the card....it is soooo awesome! You'll love it! Isn't that sentiment so hilarious! It's so Jake:) I added some tiny twinkles to the inside as well.

Recipe:
Stamps (TCP), Ink (memento), CS (SU), DP (   ), Dies (TCP), Ribbon (SU), Thread (MFT), Taylors Tiny Twinkles (TE), Crystal Effects (SU), Glitter (SU), Stickles, Copics, dimensionals
Sketch: Viva la Verve, week 3

And for my second card I used 'Jingle Bells'. I love this set because not only is it super cute, it's also very versatile! I actually made she into a he;) No surgery required! I just clipped off the pigtails and voila! A boy! There are a few little dimples where the pigtail was, so you have to colour the hair darker brown or black to hide the stamp line. As you may know, I have 3 little boys, so I am always on the hunt for either boy stamps, or girls that I can 'alter';)

I also love that you can stick other things in 'his' little hand. I used the present from 'A beary good year'. The sentiment ('He Really Does Exist') is from the bunny set featured above and I thought it went well with the present dp and the little gift:) I also made my own little 3D snowflake embellishment using the apron lace die and scored it, folded and made into one of those snazzy little pinwheel dealies! I then spritzed it with glimmer mist, as well as the snowflake die. I applied a mixture of chocolate and gold glitter to both snowflakes. I used the apron lace die again on the inside as well as 'Merry Christmas' from 'A Beary Good Year'.

I paper pieced his coat and mittens and coloured everything else with copics. The present has cinnamon and diamond stickles over top.
Recipe:
Stamps (TCP), Snowflake and Apron Lace die (TCP), Ink (memento, SU), CS (SU), DP (BasicGrey- Wassail), Stickles, Glitter (SU), Glitter brad (SU), punches (SU), Ribbon (SU), dimensionals (SU), Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels- vanilla)

Thanks so much for joining me and keep on hoppin! You're not done yet! Last, but not least is Miss Meowy, Alma de la Rosa herself! So head on over to see what delicious treats she has to deliver....

{TCPTUES} Ski Bunny

Well, I have some very exciting news for you all!!!! As some of you may know, this Tuesday is release day over at The Cats Pajama's. Now that in itself is pretty exciting fo those of us that are fans of their adorable stamps....but in addition to the excitement of 10 new stamp sets and 4 new dies, Alma (the Top Cat) asked little old me to be a part of the release!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it!! I have known for awhile, but haven't said anything, as I was waiting to see if all my FREE goodies came in time (you heard me, free! Alma generously sent me 5 new stamp sets and 2 new dies to play with!!!). And the package came in the nick of time, on Friday!! So I am busy this weekend making my samples to display with the fabulous cat-packers! I have never been in on a blog hop before so I am kind of nervous being that I am practically the worst techie out there! So if you have any advice for a rookie, I'd sure appreciate it! The release party is Monday night on SCS right here (5-7pm mst). And the release is Tuesday, so I'd love it if you come along and 'hop' with me and see all the things that I've made with these cute new products!!!

So here is todays card. Oh how I love The Cats Pajama's Tuesday Challenges!!! So fun, different and inspiring:) I look forward to these challenges more than any other!! This was the intimidating photo challenge which always makes me use me noggen, but this week it came to me immediately! Gotta love it when that happens:) Here is the photo:

That's right folks...it's a chair;) My inspiration was both the blue/green/brown hues and the really funky pattern on the fabric. I chose to go with the pattern, as I had some brand new paper that I thought would be prefect!
Isn't this bunny sooo cute? He was one of my freebies from October's Swanky stamper challenge, so I love him even more because I didn't have to pay for him!! Like a thief, it seems more thrilling to me when I get something for FREE!! LOL! Maybe I need therapy. who knows? Maybe I'd take therapy if it was free? haha! I used MTSC99 from last week (I got mixed up with the sketches sitting out on my desk and was 1/2 way through making this card when I realized I was using an old sketch, so I just went with it!) for the layout and it's such an easy sketch to work with, can't wait to use it again;) So this is the dp that I thought had the same feel as the upholstery on the chair....so retro and funky! I stamped Mr Bunny, coloured him and cut him out. I paper-peiced his nose and his scarf. There are stickles on the icicles that have accumulated on his little whiskers (I know that feeling, though not on my whiskers (??) but rather the nose hairs- I told my mom the other day "you know it's cold out when the hairs in your nostrils freeze" Haha- TMI?? lol) I also applied CE to his skiis, poles and nose. For the circle BG, I ran it through the swiss dor embossing folder to make it look like snowfall and then I cut a landscape out of sticky sheet and used SU's chunky glitter. The trees are die cuts and I popped a few of them up for dimension and added tiny twinkles to the tops. Bunny was placed on the panel with dimensionals. The ribbon is SU's new seam binding...so nice. I love. And I used a teensy tiny button and linen thread as well. My Bunny apparantly didn't get the memo about changing colour for the winter. He might not last long in nature with that dark brown coat against the stark white of the winter wonderland that we have outside, but he sure looks cute on a card:) Maybe he is just a non-conformist like me?!

For the inside, I mimicked the layout on the front. I love the sentiment that goes with this set (there are a few more, but this is my favorite) 'Feel the Wind in Your Ears'!!!

Recipe:
Stamps: TCP
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Colorbox chalk ink- toffee (for sponging)
CS: SU (cherry cobler, always artichoke), TE (choice snow white)
DP: Basicgrey- Jovial
Ribbon/thread: SU
Other: spellbinders, copics, taylors tiny twinkles (TE), sponge, crystal effects (SU), dimensionals (SU), tree die (SU), chunky glitter (SU), swiss dots embossing folder (SU), bigshot, button (unkown)

Thanks for looking and we'll see you back here Tuesday!! Don't forget!

Sparkle Baby

Hi there! Old man winter has reared his ugly head around these parts!! It's been snowing and blowing and FREEZING! When we have had such a mild fall, getting used to this bitter temperature is going to be tough! Hayes and I were going to go into town with my mom and take my Grandpa out for chinese food while the other 2 boys are in school, but with the roads so icy, we have decided to stay in:( We are pretty bare bones in the fridge, so I will have to challenge myself in the cooking department;) I'll pick up some milk when I drop Jake off at preschool, but that's about all that rinky dink grocery store in the village has to offer! lol! We have a freezer full of beef that we just got done, so we'll get our protein fix, but our chances of not contracting scurvey might be another story!
On a super exciting side note, my card (balloon boy) was chosen as a winner over at ATS!! Whoo Hoo! Free stamp sets are always welcome around these parts! I love starting off the day as a champ, and I didn't even have to eat wheaties for breakfast:) hehe
This is a card that I made for the BasicGrey challenge, which was to use any BG products and use any 'winged thing'. I also used the SSSC as my layout inspiration.
I used this little cutie from CC Designs. Ain't she sweet?? She always reminds me of my niece Harley for some reason...maybe it's the round little tummy and piggy tails? I always seem to give her blonde hair like my muse. For the BG challenge, I used the Kioshi line. I love the colours and whimsical patterns! I crazy stitches around each panel and popped up the panel that the little sprite is on. I coloured her with copics and paper pieced her bodysuit, leggings (I usually make her legging-less, but it's darned cold out here this time of year!) and sockies. I applied 2 different glitters to her wings after colouring and added stickles and purple rhinestones brads to her antennae. I glittery prima flower finishes off the front:)

The inside has the sentiment 'sparkle' to go along with the sparkly cardfront. I stitched as well, punched out a strip of dp and added stickles to the center of each flower.

Recipe:
Stamps: CC Designs, Stampin Up! (sentiment)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black
CS: Stampin Up! (Black), TE (choice snow white)
DP: BasicGrey (kioshi)
Flower: Prima
punch: SU
other: stickles, glitter (SU), brads (SU), sewing machine, thread, glue pen (creative memories), copics

Birthday Boy and his Balloon

Welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by:) Today I have a card for you that I made a few nights ago. I was itching to stamp, but when I went downstairs, I found that 'someone' (read Ryan or Jake) must have turned down the underfloor heat REALLY low...now if any of you out there have that kind of heat in your house, you know that it takes a long long time to get the house warmed up! So there I was in my stamp room (which is the coldest room anyway for some reason) FUH-Reezing!!! You might notice that my colouring skills on this card are the pits, and that is why...my fingers could barely hold a marker. I kept having to blow my breath into them to try and get the joints to move! They were seriously seized up! lol! I almost gave up numerous times, and I hardly ever take more than one sit down to make a card. I like to have a done project when i call it a night!
Anyway- that is the distance I go for my 14 followers! Almost freezing my fingers off in the name of stamping! This card is based on Jen's SFYYT for this week....

As well as the sketch challenge, I am also entering this in this weeks challenge at All That Scraps. The challenge was to make a birthday themed card and the requirement was that you used a current stamp available in the ATS online shop. I went through the store (knowing that I wanted to use a CC Designs stamp) and found that this little fella that I happen to own, is indeed in the shop..YAY! I love him...he is cute and trying to be cool at the same time;) I coloured him (see above if you are wondering wtheck happened to my colouring;) with copics, cut him out and popped him up with dimensionals onto the card. If you are wondering 'Jenny- where on earth did you find such a small replica of the 12x12 dp pattern that you used to paper-piece his t-shirt', then wonder no more!! Ladies..I seriously think that I invented the wheel, or fire, or something equally as important and life altering here!! Ready....wait for it....here it comes................I used the page on the front of the kit that shows the dp pattern to size, and then right beside it, the dp if you saw it as a whole (which measures really small...maybe 1x2"). That teeny tiny piece is what I stamped the shirt on and cut out! Genius, right?? haha!

Sorry- didn't realize this pic was so blurry until now:( The balloon is covered with a layer of crystal effects. I used MFT's banner die to create the little HB2U sentiment (I put that in place of the heart embellishment on Jens sketch) I attached each banner together with a brad (the 'wings' of the brad were placed on either side of the string and then set, to ensure the string was somewhat centered and kept in place) and string along the top and clipped on both ends with mini library clips. I stamped the letters in memento using TCP's Coolvetica alphabet set. I left the inside panel empty, as I plan on stamping the lucky little mans name in there when I decide who this goes too;)

Recipe:
Stamps: CC Designs (Birthday Trevor), TCP (Coolvetica)
Ink: Memento
CS: SU, TE
DP: Crate Paper
Dies: MFT (banner trio), Spellbinders
Other: Brads (SU), string (unknown), Crystal effects (SU), Copics

Baked With Love (and a SSSC!)

So last night I was dog tired and went down into my stamp room to make sure all the lights were shut off, and wouldn't you know it, ended up making this card!! LOL! You never know when your crafty mojo will hit (or miss)....it's sneaky like that! Crept right up on me, it did;) But I'm glad it did, because there is a very special lady that's turning the big 3-0 in a few days and I didn't want to give her a card that wasn't especially made just for her (even though I have tons of nice cards I could have given her..it just doesn't seem right). She also just so happens to be one of the best chocolate cake makers out there, and I am making her a cake...the pressures seriously on! But I'm sure this busy mom will be happy that she gets a meal and cake cooked for her, no matter what it tastes like!
I used the SSSC this week and I'll be getting this in just under the wire!

I am always going to put this card in My Favorite Things WSC this week (make something cooking/food related). I used MFT's 'Lovin from the Oven' (This main image plus tons of really sweet sentiments) and guess what? I got it for 50% off at the LSS!!!! Love deals like that! Plus I've been eying this one up for awhile:)
I stamped her numerous times on CS and DP and coloured her arms, neck and spoon with copics. I ruffled up some lace (yum!) and stuck it behind her apron bottom. I attached her to a piece of striped dp and ran it all through the bigshot using a deckled rectangle die ( I wanted her upper body and bottom of her dress to be cut with the die) It ended up really sticking the apron down- it was trying to pop up, and it made a crackle pattern on the very thickest layer (which happened to be the bowl), which looks really cool IRL (like the old crackle glass ware Grandma used to have;)
The dp is from Little Yellow Bicycle and it's a really sweet, vintage-y kind of look. And it really thick and strong...its not flimsy whatsoever, really good quality stuff I tell ya! You could even use it as a card base, it's stronger than some CS out there.

I applied crystal effects over the bowl and I love the way it turned out!! you can see the crackle effect the pressure of the bigshot (combined with VERY beat up well loved cutting pads)

Recipe
Stamps: Lovin From the Oven (MFT)
Ink: Memento toxedo black
CS: crumb cake, marina mist (SU); choice buttercream (TE)
DP: Little Yellow Bicycle (Savor Collection)
Ribbon/ Lace: SU
Other: silverware brad (Creative Imaginations), Spellbinders (lacey circles, deckled rectangles), circle banner die (MFT), label die (papertrey ink), Copics, dimensionals, CE, Scalloped Square die (SU), corner rounder punch (SU)

Ewe Make me Feel Warm & Toasty

Hello! Not much excitement to report around here lately....Ryan has a 4 day weekend, so we are just spending Remeberance Day relaxing and enjoying the freedom that our Soldiers are fighting for every day!! God Bless them all!!
This card is inspired by the TCP Tuesday challenge for this week. Sketch challenges are one of my favs (along with colour challenges). This is a great sketch by Alma. It is a square card that works any way you flip it! And flip it I did;)
Here is the sketch:

I used this sweet little sheep set that I had gotten for Octobers Swanky Stamper and had yet to ink up. I am smitten with this little ewe!! I sure am hoping that there are more coming for the next release!! Fingers and toes crossed! Wouldn't she be cute decorating a Christmas tree, riding a sled....endless possibilities!
I coloured her with my copics and a little pencil on the ground for shading. The edges of the cut panel were sponged to soften. I paper pieced her scarf and 'pockets' (soooo cute:) and then added some unravelled rope twine for the scarf fringe....this is probably my favorite part of the card and the idea litterally came by accident! I was threading the button with rope twine and thought 'damn this rope twine, its always unravelling...how's a person supposed to thread a button with all these little bits of thread poking out everywhere?"LOL- then the little lightbulb went off, just like in the cartoons!! Haha!
I used the deckled nestie die in various sizes to make the main panel, the green lrg panel and the sentiment tag panels on the side. I stamped the sentiment on dp, which is not my usual way, but its good to try and stretch your comfort zone now and again;) I also stamped a cute little berry stamp in Cherry Cobler ink right onto the twill. It looked a little stark without it, and I really wanted to use twill, so this was a good solution! The snowflakes dies are from SU. I cut the one out of felt and it ended up being really fragile, so I backed it with CS..the other was just cut out of the cream CS. I put a nice red button and rope twine (separated into three threads) bow on top of the snowflake layers. The sheep panel and the green rectangle panel are both popped up on dimensionals.
I used the same gorgeous dp that was sitting on my desk from the last card...I think this is such a beautiful collection! I highly recomend it if you haven't bought it for yourself yet;) The inside baja breeze strip was ran through the new snowflake embossing folder. The edge of the red panel on both the front and inside, was punched using a SU pinking hearts border punch.

Recipe:
Stamps: The Cats Pajama's, holly berry (SU)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Colorbox chalk ink- toffee
CS: SU (baja breeze), TE (choice buttercream)
DP: My Minds Eye (Holly Jolly)
Other: twill, rope twine (SU), deckled rectangles (spellbinders), punch (SU), embossing folder (SU), snowflake dies (SU), felt (MFT), button (unkown), Copics,

Is Red Riding Hood A Superhero or Something?

That's what Jake asked me when he saw that she wears a cape....I said "no, it's not a superhero cape...it's just a cloak to keep her warm in the crisp fall air when she's wandering the woods". After that he wasn't nearly as interested. Oh well! lol
I made this card using a cardabilities sketch and am submitting it for this weeks Kraftin Kimmie Challenge (Distressing).

I stamped little Red in memento ink onto choice snowhite and cut the image out using a nestie die. I then stamped her a few more times onto different dp's and paper-pieced her clothes. I stamped her again onto CS and coloured her with copics and spicas. I didn't want her face and hands to seem sunken, so thats why I added those parts again to the very top. All the layers are exremely distressed, lol!! I love distrssing, so I was happy to do it again on this challenge. I get so carried away that I generally tear my dp almost right in half (but i don't even worry about it- just cover it with another panel and it;s fixed!! No problem if there is a rip mark- just adds to the distressed effect. Crooked panel- No worries!! Uneven, crooked stitching- Again, NO worries!! Maybe thats why I love distressing soooo much. Leaves alot of room for error;) I also sewed around the edges of all the panels with a straight stitch. The sentiment is stamped and punched with SU oval punches. I added a rolled rose die from MFT, distressed the edges and jammed some crochet ribbon in the center. I'm never happy with the way my rolled flowers turn out, so I think I am going to have to find a video on you tube or something that show's me how to do it properly. The sketch didn't call for a ribbon, but I thought that it needed something in the middle. I am totally in love with SU's crochet ribbon!! I have never used these little hat pins before, but I thought that with the distressing, sewing, crochet ribbon and colour scheme that this card had a vintage feel and pins would suit it. I'm really happy with the way they added the finishing touch to the card.

The inside is distressed as well, and I used the same nestie set, only a smaller ones turned horizontal. I sponged the inner one as well using River Rock and Toffee ink. The little candy dots were originally intended for the card front before I remembered the stick pins and decided to go with them. I think that they are cute and not too flashy..nice for the soft look of the card. And a little strip of crochet to finish it off:)
Thanks for looking:)

Stamps: Kraftin Kimmie
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, SU River Rock, Colourbox Chalk Ink- Toffee
CS: SU (river rock), TE (choice snow white)

Other: Spellbinders, Rolled Rose Dienamic (MFT), punches (SU), stick pins (making memories), copics, spica glitter pen- clear, crochet ribbon (SU), candy dots (Your Next Stamp), sponges, sewing machine, thread, bigshot, distressing tool

Mermaid Monday

Happy Monday to you all! Did everyone have a good weekend?? We had a long weekend here..there was some kind of PD day at school on Friday, so we headed into town to get a few errands done and ended up coming home early because I wasn't feeling great in the afternoon...this is a heck of a tough cold/cough to kick, I tell you! Saturday was a jammie-day for me and the boys and we watched Toy Story 3 with my brother and sis in law and their kids and thats a hard one for the moms!!! Brings a tear to my eye!! The kid grows up, the mom gets left at home while he goes off to college, shoot- even the dog gets gray in the muzzle!! Sunday we had a bday party and then in the evening we went to Megamind. So all in all, not a bad weekend for me and the boys:)
Here is a card that I got dome this weekend and haven't posted yet. I used Mercy's sketch for this week:

Now that I got myself started on these Kraftin Kimmie girls, I just can't get enough!! I've got another cute one in the making that I'll post tomorrow:)
This is Arianna (??) I think? I stamped her, coloured her with my copics and added tons of glitter and stickles.  After she was cutout, I popped her on top of a eyelet square nestie and to add even more bling I put score tape behind the open circles and added glitter to the front. The button is a clear SU button and I used a 3/4 " circle punch to punch out a section of the sparkly red paper and used CE to glue the paper to the button. I tied a cimple linen thread bow to the button. The sentiment is cut using a label nestie and I ran the patterned paper label through the bugshot again with a smaller eyelet square, just cutting th corner out...clear as mud? I thought so;) lol

The seahorses have stickles on them and then are covered with CE and popped up on dimensionals as well.

The inside is just another nestie die with the sentiment cut and sponged with the label die. I used a martha stewart shell border punch along the bottom and ran a line of score tape over that, pulled off the adhesive backing and added glitter! Easy peasy and cute as can be:)

Recipe:
Stamps: Kraftin Kimmie (Arianna, mermaid sentiments)
Ink: Memento (tuxedo black, cantaloupe& tangelo (sponging)

pretty sick kitty!

Not me! Well, maybe me a little, but I think I am finally on the mend:) I am talking about non other than Sprinkle, the diva kitty from TCP. The challenge over at The Cats Pajama's this week is 'For the Girls', meaning we make a girls card using one of their female images. Well, the only 'girl' image I have is a few sets with Sprinkle in them, and I hear she is a she indeed!

I stamped Sprinkle with memento, Cut the image out with a circle nestie and matted it in a scalloped circle nestie cut out of green felt (MFT). I stamped the bedding on a scrap, cut that out and traced the sheet and pillow on some pink toile fabric (complete with a kitty cat pattern- what else for Sprinkle would be appropriate I ask you?? lol). I did the same with the sheet (only with pink felt). For the headboard, I stamped the image onto kraft CS in black and then used a SU woodgrain BG stamp and stamped that with brown ink, cut out the headboard and glued it onto the main image on the nestie. I stamped sprinkles again on white and cut her out, colouring her eyes, nose, collar, and ice pack( hot water bottle??) with copics. I also added clear spica pen to the eyes, nose and collar. I gave Sprinkle herself a coat of black with my copic to make her extra dark. I then added her to the very top of all the peiced layers with tombow glue.
The dp is just squares that I punched out with my SU square punch, glued to a peice of white cs with a glue dot in the center of each one and zig zagged stitched along the seams with my sewing machine. DO NOT sew thru glue or any kind of tape adhesive!! It seriously jams up your machine! Don't ask me how I know this....I just do. I wanted this card to have the look of a quilt, so I also added some pleated satin ribbon underneath the pink satin ribbon and bow. I thought it looked like a bed skirt ruffle! What do you think? I added some pink and white paper flowers around the edge of the circle (it just looked a little too bare) and some pearls to the flower centers and corners of the card.

The inside is pretty simple. I used a spellbinders die and a circle nestie inside that. I punched the sentiment with a SU punch. Pearls were added to the corners.
Hope you enjoy:) Thanks for looking!
Jenny

What's Your Poison?

Thanks for stopping by! I am still feeling terrible, but since I'm not up for housework and running around, then I may as well get a little stamping in.....I have had some Kraftin Kimmie stamps for some time, but I had to mount them all (YUCK!!!) and then I was turned off of them for awhile for that reason...I know, I'm strange, but thats just how I roll;) But I have gotten over my bitterness regarding unmounted rubber and decided to dig this little devil out and give her some ink! I was a little daunted by the colouring for some reason, but I got it done without to many problems..I am still learning a lot about colouring with copics (ie. colour-bleeding) but I guess practice makes perfect, or at least improvement (I hope;)
This is a Mojo sketch and it's sometimes nice to have a pretty simple sketch and just focus on your main, stamped panel.

I stamped her in memento ink and coloured her with my copics. I added clear spica glitter pen to the ribbons in her hair and on her dress, apron, shoes and bottle. I trimmed her with my paper trimmer and cut around her pigtails (the sketch called for a long, narrow image, so I wanted to keep with that. I matted her with green dp (the flip side of the main skull dp panel) and then concord crush cs which I punched with my scallop edge SU punch around 3 sides. The sentiment label is cut from a nestie label and trimmed to just the one edge. The sentiment comes along with the girl image. I popped that up on dimensionals. I added dimensional pearls to the edges. The little skull on the black satin bow is just a skull from the dp that I cut out, stuck SU's new rhinestones (YUM!!!) on the eyes and coated the rest of the skull with CE. I like the way it turned out! And those rhinestones- They are freakin' gorgeous!! Yes, they are a little more costly than most, but they litterally are faceted like a diamond!! They are going to be treated like diamonds, too, I assure you! They are not something you just add willy nilly....only special places;)
I Know I've added tons of pictures to this blog, but I wanted you to see the sparkles, and the more pictures, the more you get the feel of it:) I won't do this all the time, trust me;) I sewed the edge of the large dp panel (the skulls) with a funky stitch option on my sewing machine...it kind of makes for an evil-ish feel with that sharp, wicked, black stitching, don't cha think??

See the facets on the rhinestones? I know- I think they are real diamonds...Eek!!! Look at the teeth on that guy!!!! Scary! This is my favorite Halloween paper ever and it's discontinued from last years SU catalogue...{tears}! Oh well, I am being a brave girl and not hoarding all my fav d/c items like I used too;)

Isn't the inside sentiment fabulous?? It's not one that comes with the set, but it is a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp as well! Tons of good little verses in that set! Not sure what kind of occassion for this card would call for....attempted murder? assault? intent to cause bodily harm? or just a friendly warning for a misbehaving spouse......;)
