Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge

Good Morning! Happy Labour Day Monday! Today is our last 'official' day as summer holidays- My Big Boy starts Grade 1 tomorrow!! He is very excited to be going back, but already worried about the early mornings (not sure why as he gets up early on his own every morning anyway??) Maybe he's a bit like his mom and is fine with things if they are a personal choice, but automatically gets his back up if it's a decision imposed by a outside organization;)LOL!! Anyway, I am taking him to the nearby Ellis Bird Farm to go and check out all of the birds! We are taking a picnic lunch and going to enjoy his last day of freedom;) He is really into birds right now. He packs around his Bird of Canada bird guide and practically has it memorized. Most kids aren't even that into books at the tender age of 6, but my kid is reading adult bird guides!! LMBO!
Well, I found this cool challenge as I was creeping on peoples blogs this weekend and I thought it would be something right up my alley!! I LOVE movies and some of my favorite activities to do are either a) going out the movies- popcorn is an absoloute must! I even bring my own bottles of seasoning that I carry in my purse! hehe....or, b) renting a movie, finding one in my stash, or coming accross a gooder on the satalite (which is equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack with the crap they put on nowadays) and of course...you guessed it...making a big bowl of popcorn. Popcorn is one snack I vow to never give up!! I could be upwards of 500 lbs and still be enjoying my bowl of corn popped goodness! The only time I leave the house would be to buy more kernels...I'd be in luck though, as Costco sells a huge bag of kernels now! lol
Anyway, the challenge this week was to create a card based on the movie Sleepy Hollow (johnny depp and christina ricci). Any Depp movie is sure to please if you ask me and this one was no different..I am actually itching to watch it now, so I might have to find it next time I'm in town and 'accidentally' throw it in my cart. Maybe I'll take one of the kids with me and blame the whole mishap on them! Bad Mommy, Bad!!
Here is my card inspired by the terrifying Headless Horseman:
I used a bunch of my old trusty Stampin Up! wooden stamps...I've been using clear acrylic or rubber cling for the last while and I was really having a hard time stamping images where I actually wanted them. Guess I'll have to dig out the old stamp-a-ma-jig for correct placement...I embossed the owl tree so that it stood out from the other trees a bit more. The horse running threw the spook forest is totally Sleepy Hollow I think!! If only I had a headless horseman then it would be perfect! I went over all the un-embossed trees with a clear spica glitter pen (hard to tell in pic). Rich Razzleberry and Black ink were sponged on white CS panel to create the spooky night sky. Two little silver rhinestone sickers are on the owls eyes. Sparkly rhinestones were also added to the corners of the main panel. I glittered the yellow moon with dazzling diamonds glitter, as well as the center of the green flower. The purple flower was sponged a bit with black ink to darken it up. Black satin ribbon finishes it off. The DP is all from last years SU! Halloween pack. Now I am totally in the spirit of Halloween!!!!!!!!!
Supplies:
Stamps: SU! (Branch out, Wanted, House of Haunts, Halloween Frights)
Ink: SU, Memento, versamark
CS, DP: SU
Ribbon: SU
other: rhinestones, flowers (walmart-purple, Prima-green), dazzling diamonds (SU), black embossing powder (SU)

Thanks for visiting!!
